This contributor is either Mr Lovering or an 80yr old member of the FAW. You obviously have not looked up the facts in Barry's case and I suggest to you that the majority of football clubs agree that Barry should be reinstated which also includes Llanelli who have a more difficult fight on their hands.

Aren't the fact's that Barry were withdrawn from the league - yes by their disturbed owner - but withdrawn nevertheless. Aren't the facts that Barry Town Utd are a new club? It's unfortunate and I have total empathy for them, yet unless I'm missing something they remain the facts. What came before is irrelevant. I can't speak for the majority of Welsh League clubs, or even the minority, but what I do know is that the 4 or 5 clubs that I have had reason to speak with recently have been of the same impression - they should not be allowed to join the league because they are a new club. The upsetting part is for the fans - because Barry is not a part of their life, it IS their life. That said, they haven't covered themselves in glory with the abuse and hounding of the FAW in recent weeks, and most objective people can see through a 1250 person petition - I could stand in central train station today and get a couple of hundred signatures in a hour for any cause I decided to write down on a sheet of paper. I really do feel deep sadness for the club, but there are far wider implications of just putting them back in the league. Sorry.

The majority of football clubs not directly involved you mean. Ive barely seen a Welshleague club supporting you. And by posting names, numbers and email addresses of FAW officers and naming teams with hidden agendas on their own message board is definitely not going to galvanise any support for you. Angry as you all may be, you should conduct yourselves in the correct and proper manner.

Sorry to be the bringer of bad news but, you're all a little too premature gentleman, it's not over yet... not by a long long shot!

I have to say a big congratulations to the FAW for standing by their rules. You can dress it up as you like however, both Barry Town Utd. and AFC Llanelli are new clubs. If either were let into the league under different guises I can assure you there would be mass appeals by the Welshleague community. If both these clubs appeal I can guarantee they will be counter acted by a number of WL clubs. The support isn't there for either of these clubs from many Welshleague clubs!!!! Rules !!! ? Same rules that 16 clubs failed criteria to play in Welsh League ?? The work that all the clubs officials of both clubs have put in this season, in very difficult circumstances, would put most clubs in Welsh league to shame. How are they new teams ? Are Rangers , Merthyr, Wimbledon, new teams ? Were they sent down to parks football ? NO ! The ambition , along with facilities and academies , of both clubs , are way ahead of any club in Welsh League. Llanelli have totally reorganised the club this pre season. A new board of directors , all local business men , have negotiated with Town Council for lease of ground and clubhouse and sponsorship for first team and the excellent academy have been agreed. The future plans for the club is way ahead of any other club in league. With the sole aim to get back in the Welsh Premier . Apart from Haverfordwest and Barry, what other clubs have the ambition that these 2 great clubs have ? NONE !!! Just think what is best for Welsh Football. It was a shocking and embarrassing decision by the council . Llanelli were ruined by one man. The WFA were aware of the problems , yet still gave club licence to club to play !! The officials worked miracles to keep the club going only to have this diabolical decision thrown at them. Its not over yet, this week will be very interesting . Not just for both Llanelli and Barry , but for Welsh football.

I understand that Llanelli have been liquidated so a phoenix club is possible, in the case of Barry it is different. Barry Town still exists as a limited company. For some odd reason the owner has stopped his company ( whoever was paying ) playing football. Now supporters want to put a United on the end of a company name that belongs to some one else and assume that companies stature and history.I have no axe to grind and a lot of sympathy but legally does not sound realistic.

Aware of the situation the FAW may well have been. However it is circumstantial. You cannot act on circumstance alone. Imagine the FAW not granting a license to Llanelli because they thought there were financial problems only for Llanelli to pull a rabbit out of the bag. And as for what is best for Welsh football? If this were the professional world and you were sold a dodgy car by a dealer who two days later went bankrupt, but a week later starts up in the same lot selling ten different cars under a different name but there's nothing you can do to get your money back and the same dealer under a different name is laughing at you. Not fair is it. There's a certain moral code we all live by. It's called PRINCIPLE

16 Welsh League clubs failed crieria for Welsh League! Please explain that statement, from a team that passed criteria again for 3 rd year running but had to edure a play off to be promoted to the Welsh League and at present remain in the lower depths of the Senior league as described by a Barry supporter....

I have sympathy with Barry town position but Llanelli is a different scenario Completely They have lived beyond there means and owe over £150,000 to various companies And £35, 000 of that is unpaid salaries to players and staff . They have been wound up and are now Afc Llanelli I believe , therefore the decision To refuse there application was correct . They are a new club and should therefore start over in the west Wales league And start at the very bottom like every other football club . There are quite a few clubs who are trying to get welsh league status and sully Comes to mind straight away . I would also like to point out that allowing them and Barry to enter div 3 of the welsh league would have opened a massive can of worms and opened the door To any club having a bad season around April to wind there clubs up and start again under another name. May I also point out that if the div 3 of the welsh league ran with 18 teams both Barry And Llanelli would occupy both top 2 spots , therefore only leaving one more place up for grabs. Lastly may I also point out that if they had to stick to 16 in div 3 and Barry and Llanelli We're accepted in what would happen to Tredegar and Newcastle emlyn , Both clubs have done nothing wrong but would be relegated to there respective leagues But would any of the famous big names that are spouting off and getting behind Llanelli and Barry say anything to help these clubs , I don't think so .

Sorry MattBryant the relegation of a phoenix club to the lowest league does not happen in any other European country. If you look at one of my previous posts Merthyr Town did not restart in the Gloucester County League but relegated to the Western League. The same happens in Germany who have a licence system for the top 3 divisions. If a club fails the criteria they are not relegated to the German lowest division.

Timjohnson, Isn't the Barry Town situation similar to the FC United situation where a club has emerged as a different club from the original club? Also Barry and Llanelli failed to fulfil their fixtures which hasn't helped their cause. Gutted for the supporters of both clubs, but just trying to be realistic here otherwise what is stopping Bettws from folding now and coming back as Bettws Untied and asking to stay in Division 3?

I don't think FC United of Manchester started in the Manchester League. In Europe it is normal for a phoenix club to start 2 divisions lower than where they were therefore SWSL or SWAL division 2 . Llanelli fulfilled all their fixtures.

Llanelli fulfilled all their fixtures !! The WFA are asking Llanelli to go play in the local league ( Carmarthenshire league ) where to my knowledge they have not played in over 100 years !! We have played in the Welsh League , Southern League and Welsh Premier since 1912 I think.

All this because a certain someone very high up on the FAW misguidedly promised BTUFC that it would be no problem, you'll be ok. Well i say that's where the problem lies and that's where the accountability lies. Heard a rumour lovering is due to be back on terra firm by Wednesday of next week. Interesting

Plenty of inaccuracies here. But the main one is this whole relagation of pheonix clubs. The reason clubs like Merthyr, Chester and Halifax didn't start at the bottom is because there is no need. They were placed in the highest division that had a NATURAL VACANCY.
Let's say for arguement's sake that Tredegar Town went pop. The pheonix club wouldn't start in the Gwent North Div 3, they would apply for and be offered the highest division with a natural vacancy. In this instance, as with most seasons, this would be Gwent League Div 3. This division has vacancies each year because 16 interested clubs can't always be found. Same can be said about the Mid Wales League Div 2.
Unfortunately for Llanelli, below WLD3 there is no senior league such as the Gwent League or South Wales Senior/Amateur leagues. Instead there's a huge gap to junior football. And if there are no natural vacancies in the Carmarthenshire League D1 then they'll be even more unfortunate.
Just ask West End who came up from the WWFA area and Morriston Town who went down there.
I feel for the people trying to resurrect Llanelli but i can't see how it's fair to place them in D3 at the expense of another club who didn't get liquidated. I really can't see how the FAW can accomodate them and i'm sad about that.
The Barry Town situation however is clear cut. A madman was stupidly allowed (by the FAW/WL) to appoint himself secretary and pull a club he wasn't running out of the league. They should be re-instated ASAP and a safeguard against this sort of thing happening in the future put in place. Clubs run by one man is not the model for the future and the FAW should be encouraging organisations like the BTSC not punishing them!
