I second the opion of teams should not forget the players that stay loyal and work hard within a club to get them there, I dont know why people feel compelled to pay players personally???
If you want to play for the shirt and a club so be it why need to be paid??? As previously mentioned there are a fair share of mercenaries on the Welsh League scene who have a fairly long CV when it comes to previous clubs - following the money each season!!!!
Good luck to all teams and their preperations this season, time will tell but would hope clubs dont forget the loyal and passionate players that do stick around when the money dries up!!!

With regards to Cullimore,he is Undy born and bred.He used to play for them a few years back when they were a Gwent County side but his talent obviously led him to better himself. Now his home town club have made it to Welsh League I suppose its no big shock for him to return to Undy to play.

I'm surprised you haven't heard of Cullimore, I believe he topped the Welsh League goalscoring charts 2 or maybe 3 seasons ago with 30+ goals as Caldicot enjoyed one of their better seasons.
Fowler is crap though.

p.s. guest247 i didn't know that, and of course it makes some sense. but we're still talking about a proven goalscorer at div 1 level dropping 2 divisions to play for nothing? really?!

Not heard that Wharton had left Goytre , any deffo news on that anyone ? i hear Caldicot have lost most of their first team squad though , lost Cullimore and edwards to Undy and there is cash involved in those deals for sure , Thorne , lloyd and Wenzel to Chepstow , guy to cwm celtic and Hooper and morley to llanwern . Not great for the new caldicot management team really .

your right on cullimore & edwards but wrong on cash being involved > both born & bred in undy & played in the same side as myself when starting their careers @ undy > easy sell 2 come home once we gained our long awaited welshleague status> also helps & it honestly pains me 2 say it as I enjoyed my spells there that caldicot are in free fall > i think you need 2 go a little futher up the M4 & see the type of player droping into the Gwent County 1st ( thorne & wenzel & lloyd ) 2 see where the cash is

my question would be crooky, if or more likely when the projected 1st team squad size at Undy becomes huge as it seems it will if you have all/most last years players that got promotion plus 6/7 of caldicot's team, some of them are going to be left out obviously and as we know with local football, people become unhappy very quickly and look to other places for their football, so what will happen then as i'm pretty sure they won't stay for welsh league reserve football as that league is pointless as we all know, it'll be interesting to see who actually puts pen to paper. Also, i can't understand why players would choose to play a league lower unless they are getting money for it, which would suggest the likes of the affore mentioned must be on some kind of payment, even if not direct wages for playing

srl42 i think your right , A work colleague of mine went out to watch Undycot on Sunday and was told by a playing member that indirect payments were being made this season to certain players ie; tracksuits , training kits . liquid refreshments , gym memberships etc . He also said with half a dozen Caldicot players added to the squad Undy looked half tidy !!!
