Hope for Llanelli and Barry. Lets hope the FAW have the courage and common sense to change their minds ,not just for the both clubs but for Welsh football. We need these two clubs in welsh football and especially in the Welsh League.

I totally disagree llanelli have no right to be given a spot in the welsh league! They had there chance and tried to live beyond there means and as a consequence no longer exist. How can a brand new club, which is exactly what they are, be allowed to jump ahead of everyone else trying to progress? You ask sully if that is fair! As for barry, i totally agree.

What a complete farce , the whole scenario is laughable to say the least. If the welsh fa change there mind and allow both Llanelli and Barry Utd lol To be reinstated it will open up a massive can of worms and set up a huge problem for The welsh league. What happens if any club in the welsh league are having a bad season and around may Decide to wind there respective clubs up and start a new club but still retain there welsh League status because they are existing members ? The welsh fa must stick to there decision and not allow these newly formed clubs To be granted any special privileges .

I agree with you Matty with regards to Llanelli. They were wound up due to poor management from the board as a whole and they should be treated as a new club.
With regards to Barry it is due to 1 person and I think the Welsh FA should be protecting teams from being destroyed by 1 person. How this looks and works, I'm not sure.
I think both teams should be treated as individual clubs with individual circumstances. The tirany of 1 person shouldn't drag down a whole club (even if he is an owner of the club).

Obviously Matty and Austin you don't really know the Llanelli situation as they to were destroyed by 1 person- THE OWNER, the club never had a board or committee. He had total say in where the money was spent. He also continually assured the club and the FAW that the debts would be met. Also a similar situation to Merthyr who reformed and dropped down 3 divisions which was sanctioned by the FAW and Rangers in Scotland reformed but didn't go to grass roots football. What about the number of Welsh league clubs that don't meet the ground criteria for the league but are allowed to stay in?

What happens if any club in the welsh league are having a bad season and around may Decide to wind there respective clubs up and start a new club but still retain there welsh League status because they are existing members ? What do you mean "what happens"? If a team did it deceitfully or tried to abuse the system? It's obvious what would happen. You take clubs on a case by case basis, based on how the withdrawal happened, who made the decision, were there any other factors, what is the situation with finances, and what is the situation with management and playing staff. This should be about taking the best decision to popularise the Welsh league. The Welsh league will benefit if Barry Town Utd is given entry. It's another club with "stature", even if its in divison 3. I can't comment about Llanelli really, ideally there should be a solution involving them as well. We need to keep our clubs. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

To Globetrotter, MattBryant and Austin Powers
I don't expect you to know the true position of Llanell AFC, but here are a few facts
1. The club broke even financially every season under the ownership of Nitin Parekh who gained control in 2005. 2. They were never run by a board, just 3 people, 2 fulltime staff and one part time. 3. The staff, all left due to retirement, redundancy and personal choice by the end of November 4. They only spent what they brought in through commercial activities. 5. The players wages were paid for by the owner, Nitin Parekh, who set the team manager a budget to work with for the season, every season. 6. Every month the owner transferred funds to the club to pay the wages. 7. This system worked fine until the season started when after agreeing a budget and the players signing contracts, the owner ran into financial difficulties. 8. He still found the money to pay players and combined with the European prize money, everyone was paid up to date up until November, barring a few weeks missing for certain players due to a number of reasons. 9. In December all the staff had left and the club was run by the academy director, the programme editor and the coach. 10. Between them they managed all the old players and let whoever leave who wanted to in the January window, signing 13 players and being straight with the new signings that may not get paid. 11. In total 25 transfer transactions were done by people who had been thrown in at the deep end. 12. They continued to believe that the owner would solve the financial problems putting endless hours of their own time to keep the team going. 13. They kept the integrity of the Welsh Premier League going by pulling everyone together and keeping the players focused. The players old and new were outstanding and have never been thanked by the FAW. 14. They even put their own money into the club, hundreds of pounds to help it get over the line. They have continued to help the FAW, even up until this week. 15. No reason has ever been given to anyone at the club by the owner for his difficulties and everyone believed the owner that it would be sorted right up until a month after the club was wound up. 16. Over the last four years Llanelli have done an immense amount of charity work with the local community and helped bring 22 orphans from Latvia, Lithuania and Montenegro on trips of a life time to Wales. Most people dont care about killing this side of the club though. 17. The people who kept Llanelli going to the end are the same ones who want to reform the club. A new club ? Most of the players who ended the Welsh Premier season want to play in Welsh League Division 3 or they players who have played before and want to come back to help. 18. Since the season ended they have worked every day getting funding, negotiating with the council for a new long term lease and aiming to keep football in Llanelli alive. 19. The manager has worked his way up from grass roots football and is desperate to keep the club alive for the future of generations of young players in Llanelli. 20. Incidentally the assistant manager is arguably the best player to have emerged from the Welsh League over the last 20 years never to have played professionally and if Barry and Llanelli hadn't existed when he was coming through the ranks he may have been lost to the game forever. 21. While the secretary, did every job going at the club since December, is still helping all 30 players who played for the club make claims for wages. He does endless good for the game in Wales one example is he bought water for every Wales fan in Serbia last September at a local supermarket while the game was going on while the FAW Councillors enjoyed hospitality and has never been acknowledged or paid back by the FAW. The FAW had known there was no water for their own fans and had done nothing about it. He wont be happy about me saying this but who cares. It's absolutely laughable it could only happen in Wales that our own officials dont care about the fans. 22. These people deserve better, and the FAW are punishing the very people who have helped them over the last few months and expect them to help them with the European Womens Championships. 23. Again to get back to the main point, like Barry town, ONE person is responsible for what has happened at Llanelli. 24. What have the FAW done to stop this happening again, never mind killing the people trying to get the clubs fighting back.
Think about it, it could happen to any club in Wales. Llanelli were lucky to have people step into the void as well as the people who helped them on matchdays, the Kit Man, Fixture Secretary and Academy Director.
They should all have walked away last December and let Welsh Football suffer.
I'm sure Barry Town United have people of the same stature and have fought against their owner over the last two years.
It may not be covered in the rules, but how can you NOT put these clubs in Welsh League Divsion Three. No one would be relegated and I can guarantee the rest of the Divsion Three clubs would benefit.
How on earth can you play parks football with these clubs?
Welsh Football would become a laughing stock with sides like this playing local football.
Then again does anyone really care ?

Thanks for letting me know about the Llanelli situation, You're right in saying I'm not aware of the details of their/your demise.
Saying that no-one will get relegated is a little silly. Bettws will probably still go down and Newcastle Emlyn and Treharris AW will go down if you stay up.....unless they consider increasing the league to 18 (or 19 and keep Bettws in). Not sure if I like this and have another season where potentially we have 5 teams going down again; last time was a nightmare! Also the fixture backlog as we struggled to play all the games this year due to our beautiful winter weather (and poor quality pitches).
I do also agree that teams such as Llanelli and Barry TU will benefit Div 3 as they should have a great following etc but my worry is all about being fair to all teams and I hope the FAW make the correct decision (whatever that is) based on the individual circumstances of both clubs.
Last thing any fans of Welsh League football want to see is another Abergavenny Thursdays or Ebbw Vale scenario as it's not good for football in South Wales! We also need to try and attract more fans to our grounds but it's difficult with team like Cardiff, Swansea and Newport attracting all the fans so why not go to Summer Football?? Sorry, that's another arguement.

If they were let back in at the expense of other teams then would be the biggest travesty of all. Clubs do not mind getting relegated on league position but thrown out by badly run clubs would be disgraceful and should met with multiple appeals. If they are let in and the league runs with 19 then both Llanelli and Barry should start with minus twenty points!!!!!

Also wouldn't surprise me that if they were both let back in and the league runs with 19 and goes with 6 relegated at the end of the season that every club in Div 3 would probably appeal the decision. Completely and utterly wrong. Can anyone from Barry or Llanelli argue with that just to let them back in a further three clubs would be victim of your badly run clubs. Is that good for welsh football i ask you. Get out of your bubbles and see the real world!!!!!!!

And if the decision is over turned i will be rallying around all div 3 teams to muster mass appeals to the FAW on behalf of Welsh football at all levels. It's not the FAW 's fault what has happened to these clubs but the poor committee behind them

You all all entitled to your opinions. Wherever the FAW put AFC Llanelli there will be clubs unhappy, even if its at the bottom of football in Wales.
This could happen to any club in Wales, I just hope it never happens to your club.
Llanelli don't have a committee by the way as I said above.

It's committees of the past who were happy for the glory but have no guts when the going gets tough. Traditionally well run clubs will never have this problem. This is going to be a right s@£t storm for the FAW because I'm already aware of a number of clubs set to appeal if its overturned. Forget the support your mobs have drummed up. It will be nothing compared to what will be coming

It will be nothing compared to what will be coming No guts ?? Officials of the club did an unbelievable job last season to keep the club going. You say " traditionally well run clubs will never have this problem " Really ? Speak to the FAW regarding our running of the club prior to last season. Speak to Motherwell who couldn't thank enough the then General Manager who advised them on UEFA rules and regulations. Speak to all the clubs we have played in European football who couldn't believe the hospitality and organisation of our club. We seem to have more respect outside of our own country ! Our sole aim is to get back to the Welsh Premier as soon as possible. That is our ambition. Can your club match that commitment or desire to play at the highest level in Wales. To represent our country with pride in Europe. Since 1912 we have more or less played at the highest level in Wales. And that hunger is still there within the club. I respect your opinion, but whatever the decision, there will be no winners in this saga. Its going to be a long hard road to get where we want to belong. But we will get there, whatever happens next week. By the way realfootballmember, what club do you support out of interest ?
