At the end of this season, 16 teams will be notified that they must play their football somewhere other than in the Senior League or South Wales Amateur. I can see a number of teams going out of existence, perhaps we should have four divisions in the Welsh league, however if the League abide by the criterior, we may lose several clubs from third division, (clubs who havent met the 2009 criterior, if there are any)

Scril, didnt you see Ken Tucker's letter, that should have been titled 'Miracles Do Happen' when he inferred that all clubs that were under threat of eviction were "well on the way to meeting the deadline". I think the League looked at previous years legal battles against expulsion and decided the easiest option was a blind eye and allow the problem clubs to stay in the league. As all clubs are members of the league and have placed the various committee men in their positions as representatives of the clubs,a list of all clubs lacking full facilities should be shown.

Amazing how all of a sudden every club has passed the required criteria. I have been to every welsh league ground but just recently visited the following few. Newport civil service , shocking , scaffolding poles holding up dug outs. Treharris , shocking, front door stuck on the side of changing rooms. Bettws , shocking , poor facilities and no improvement. Treowen stars , shocking, no improvement to ground. 2ND DIV Dinas powys, another shit hole with the stand falling down and no improvements to the ground. I could go on and on but the point i am making is that we have a play off between rhoose and sully and both there grounds are better than the above grounds Stick to your word mr tucker and kick the teams out who do not comply with ground criteria and promote teams that have spent funds on there facilities.

I have to agree that it has been a big cop out by the League committee. A few of the clubs stood up at the Special General Meeting and admitted that there was no way that they could comply by April 30th. In fact, Caerleon for example, said that because their ground came under the jurisdiction of Cadw and therefore a historical site there was absolutely no way that they could comply. But suddenly everything is hunky dory!!!!! There's something wrong somewhere and it stinks to high heaven!

Hello Matt, not sure who you are connect with but we had issues with local kids who kicked our dugouts out and we put Scaffolding tubes!!!!!!!!!!!!!! not poles to hold them up, next time you are visiting this will be sorted, thanks once again for another person to slag us off, but if we stuck to the new criteria we are all intact and ready for another year.

The last time I visited Shannon Close I came away shaking my head in disbelief, the Butts in Barry is better. In saying that some clubs are limited to what they can do with their facilities and they are what they are. Dilapidation is the word that springs to mind when certain grounds are mentioned and a lick of paint here and there costs very little. Please give credit to Treharris as their choice of furniture for their changing room front door is nice.

Not sure what the butts is? We have added a new stand to meet criteria and added the doors to changing rooms which were needed, although our playing surface is not the best, we have better facilities than I lot of teams we have visited over the last 5 seasons.

I'm glad to hear that as it was an eye opener. It's a shame to see Ely rangers going to div 3 what with the facilities they've got. Some clubs waste their cash on paying mercenaries while other clubs invest in bricks and mortar.

In reaction to some of the recent comments posted on this forum about our Club, we feel, that we have the right to defend ourselves and provide our opinion on certain matters. Since gaining Welsh League status five seasons ago Newport Civil Service FC has struggled hard against many factors that have continued to hinder our development as a Football Club. However we continue season after season trying to succeed and do the best that we can with very limited resources that we have. I can assure you that “ a lick of paint “ was applied to the inside of our changing rooms last summer and indeed the outside of the changing area was subject to a Grant overhaul a few months ago,but unfortunately we as a Club had no say on the work that was done. Our “scaffold pole” dugouts are constantly being vandalised by the local youths in the area and the situation that was recently commented upon was because on the day of the game they had indeed been ripped out of the ground and toppled over something that we could not of rectified in time for the game and so yes they were held up by scaffold tubes (to use there correct name) but that was the only option we had. Not to give out excuses but we are situated on the second largest Council Estate in Europe and our estate suffers from anti-social behaviour to the extreme but we as a community are always trying to engage the youth and part of our Club is now indeed used as a Social Centre for the youth in the area. Newport Civil Service FC has a small group of dedicated volunteers who DO try to the best of their ability to provide a good experience for visiting teams and we wish that sometimes that people would give us a break. We would love to be in a more affluent situation like other Clubs we visit but we are what we are and just get on with it the best we can. Our ground and facilities do meet the required criteria but if anyone would like to make a donation so we can improve upon these, then that would be very welcome indeed. We look forward to receiving all teams to Shannon Close next season where we hope you will enjoy your time with us.

Its looking so gloomy now with the second game in 3 days being cancelled. The welsh league meet on Monday but the writing is on the wall. SL has made the decision so he should pay the fine for the team being withdrawn and come out and face the music to the real people of BTAFC. Obviously everyone is really down in the dumps but we also feel sorry for the other clubs that will no doubt be affected if the probability happens on Monday. Lovering has stuck two fingers up to the town of Barry and the whole of Welsh Football. Karma.

The League management committee are meeting on Monday to discuss Barry's future. Knowing how serious the problem was , why wait until Monday, they could have met at any time this week.

Yes we are in trouble but the welsh league committee shouldn't have to run around convening meetings because of one club's problems. The meeting on Monday is their routine monthly date so really speaking the timing is fortunate. Theres also an argument that we should be treated the same as any other welsh league club and not differently because of our former prestige. Surely this is a first time a club has ever resigned its place in a league and the league have not accepted it. Any other withdrawal is done immediately on receipt of a resignation letter from the club secretary and not carried into a meeting. Fingers crossed that this is also a first that the resignation letter is thrown out and SL can crawl back to the hole he came from and let us get on with playing football.
