Jeez Steve, what's going wrong with you lot. You are a lot worse off than last year, only 5 pts off the bottom 3. I was expecting you to be pushing for promotion back to the WL this season, not where you are now.

Yes, they still play at Cwmbran Stadium. The stand has been condemned by health & safety and cannot be used so you can only watch matches at ground level with about 50 yards from the pitch. Also the cafeteria has closed down so you can only get refreshments from the vending machine or they also have a hot water boiler to dispense hot drinks at half time. My bovril was like watered down beef!!! Sadly, I can see them going the same way as Abergavenny Thursdays.

It is very sad that after all the good publicity that the club brought to the Town that the Local Authority couldnt continue with the upkeep and maintenance of a great sports facility. I remember very well the tremendous games in the old League of Wales (Konica) against Inter Cardiff, Barry Town,Ton Pentre, Bangor City and the European Cup games. The late Tony Wilcox and Chairman John Colley were proud to bring this standard of football to Cwmbran. There were also International athletics events at the Stadium which brought people from all over the UK to watch as well as other sports played there. It certainly didnt help the club when the officials and players were playing in a stadium that was falling apart around them and were powerless to do anything about it. I hope the club can pull out of the steep dive they are in and that we also see Counting Crows on this site again instead of seeing him on the Welsh Premier League Forum.

Yes was quite a wind from the sea but always exciting games. As regards Lake Utd, they became AFC Cardiff and then Sully purchased the lease of the ground through their Chairman Chris Asprou. The club then changed their name to Inter Cardiff with the Inter coming from the Chairmans company, Inter European Airways.

Only just spotted this thread.
Yes, we're having another relegation battle type season. Last season was a breath of fresh air; winning games, scoring for fun and generally looking forward to games.
Yet another change of manager and the loss of 3/4 WL quality players is probably the reason behind this poor season.
As for the stadium, yes, it's tired and yes the local council can't afford its upkeep but somehow it's still one of the best surfaces in South Wales.
If we ever get back to the WL one of the club's priorities has to be to find a new facility. Celtic are rumoured to be erecting floodlights soon. It's heartbreaking witnessing the decline of a club that, rightly or wrongly, spearheaded the launch of Wales' national league.
The good news is that the club is now run by a bunch of great locals who are involved from youth to senior. We're hoping this year is a blip and that Jamie Jenkins can attract some quality players next season.

Yes, it is sad about Cwmbran Town. I remember about 20 years ago when Abergavenny Thursdays and Cwmbran Town were the big teams in Wales and now look at them. To be honest, I've never liked Cwmbran Stadium as a ground. Too far away from the pitch. It's a pity that Celtic and Town can't (or won't) groundshare. That would be ideal for Town.
