Yes, indeed, but clubs come and go. Who's to say both us and Thursdays won't be WL clubs in 10 years time. These things take time, even when you're lucky enough to be able to pay players.
I agree re: the stadium though. Too far from the pitch, although the view from the stand is something i still miss, especially when compared to watching games at ground level like i do now.
As for sharing Celtic's ground, I'm not sure it would work as they have a WL reserve team so it's in use each Saturday one way or another. There are other developable pitches in the town but i think a 5-figure sum would be required to get things like drainage, changing rooms and enclosure sorted.

Is a merger possible ?

Not likely!! Besides, we've got nothing to offer Celtic.
If it happened I'd probably look a bit closer to my current home for a footy fix or become a hopper. It just wouldn't be the same. Is that wrong?
What would others do?

Bloody hell Steve, things seem to be getting from bad to worse. Now 1 from bottom, and a massive game next week against P.I.L.C.S, who are just above you. The way things are going, you will be playing Abergavenny again soon. Good luck for the rest of the season.

Haha - yes, we could indeed be playing Thursdays soon if we're not careful!
We have a few games in hand and are still to play the four teams around us before the season is over. Plus it looks like it's only going to be one side going down.
I'm not saying we won't go down but I'd be surprised if Pentwynmawr suddenly started winning games each week...
If we survive we then have to rebuild (again!).
Good luck to you guys on your push for promotion :-)

Why only 1 going down. Is it not 3 up/down in the Gwent League. How many go up from each division, and where do Thursdays have to finish to go up to div 2.

Well I know that the first division sadly lost Fleur de Lys Welfare in mid season but are there any other clubs dropping out of division 1 or is there a team in the division 2 promotion places that does not qualify for promotion?

Gwent county league operate a 2 up 2 down system. With Fleur de Lys Welfare dropping out, it should mean only one club being relegated. BUT IF a Gwent county club win promotion to Welsh league and there isnt a Gwent club relegated from the WL then to maintain a 16 club division then no club will be relegated. The Thursdays will need to finish in the top two places to win promotion to the second division.

Beat me to it fella!
I believe Aber Bluebirds will only come down from the WL if there is a team (from any region) to replace them.
Obviously no team can rely on such circumstances, but i just hope everyone beats Pentwynmawr just to be on the safe side. Nothing against them, it's just it would help us if a team were cut adrift at the bottom. Need to be selfish now.
