The FAW Tier 2 Ground Criteria Appeals Body met in Cardiff today (16th May) to consider an appeal from one club, Pontypridd Town FC.

Pontypridd Town FC were initially refused Tier 2 Certification by the Independent Tier 2 First Instance Body on 3rd May 2018 and submitted their appeal in accordance with the FAW Tier 2 Ground Criteria Regulations.

The Club’s application was again assessed at Leckwith Stadium, Cardiff.

The Independent Appeals Body considered all of the evidence presented within the Pontypridd Town FC appeal and have now awarded the Club, Tier 2 certification for the 2018 / 19 season. FAW Tier 2 Certification is mandatory to participate in Tier 2 of the FAW Pyramid for the 2018 / 19 season.

Therefore, following the conclusion of the Tier 2 Certification cycle, the following has been decided by the First Instance and Appeals Bodies:

The Joint Liaison Committee will meet on 31st May to confirm all of the promotion / relegation in accordance with the FAW Pyramid

All them 5 teams are suppose to be in the Second Division next year with Caerau Ely and Monmouth Town just getting demoted from Division One. Massive demotion for them down from division one to Division Three.

Does anyone know what the protocol for getting them 5 teams into Division 3? Do they promote more teams from Division 3 or not demote any of the bottom two in Division 2 instead? Even then it will only be 15 teams.

Not sure what 5 teams you think are going up to D1, it will be the top 3 teams in D2 going up, the 2 clubs in D1 who didn’t get the ground criteria will drop to D2.

I am sorry I got confused with the tier two License criteria, I thought teams without it couldn't play in Division 2, I am wrong, apologies

John you seem confused about Division numbers and Pyramid Tier numbers. If the five clubs you refer to are Caerau Ely, Monmouth Town, Abergavenny Town, Caldicot Town and Pontardawe Town, then the first two will be relegated to Div 2 (Tier 3) the other three simply remain where they are. Tier 2 certification is required only for Welsh League Div1 and Huws Grey Alliance

There you have it in a nutshell genuine honest clubs getting shafted by the men with clipboards.
The ground sharers will tell you it's just for one season doesn't matter to me it's downright diabolical.. the games gone I'm afraid.

I have to agree with Huw it's totally unfair on the genuine hard working community clubs. Pontypridd have totally lost the plot the managers have destroyed Pontypridd Town and have just turned it into a soulless club it's so sad to see these men fill their egos at the expense of the club .

I couldn't agree more with Huw and Sayitasiseeit. This feels grossly unfair. 3 of the promotion candidates in Welsh Football League – Division 2 certified to play their matches else where. hmmmmm. I wonder whats going on there?

I'm not having a pop at Ponty,Rob Pearce their Sec is one of the nicest people around a genuine guy.
There was an audable gasp around the room when ground sharing was announced ... it's like putting a plaster over a water leak.
Clubs will have just one season to furnish their home grounds with 250 seats who share.something they havnt done in last 3 seasons .madness.
Very short sighted but why anyone suprised at anything that happens eh !

I believe the ground share has to be for the full year, which for me is stupid in my opinion.

This whole "sticking plaster" approach from certain clubs stinks and is an affront on all hard working clubs and their committees. Only one of the promotion candidates have brought their facilities up to standard at their own costs. What happens in a year's time? Will they have been able to carry out required work? Will their original ground still be available? Serious discussions required at League AGM.
