on Vardon's early departure looked to be clutching his hamstring . cant really take much from what I saw , was that Ponty's strongest line up ? havnt seen them for a couple yrs so players not recognisable to me. annoying no team line ups announced , understand no programme but a a4 piece paper with teams would have been handy, little things like that a bit more professional ,no half time cuppa available ??. The "park " (cant spell Ynysgharrad) could do with a spruce up too lick paint here and there shes looking tired the old girl.Mind you I know what its like trying get council to do anything beleive me. Come on now you cant spend all that money on the team and neglect the paying customers. On to the team well Gunstone and Vardon looked like strangers, centre halves bit slow and well short, little terriers in midfield, ran out steam early second half, much like your last 2 seasons, is it the way you play all high tempo hope get couple goals in front before you tire? plusses Jason lewis no 11?, not much point in getting decent crosses in if the strikers are awol eh. Mind you have to take the opposition into account Cambrian no mugs, solid, Bowtell a handfull, Berterelli full pace, perhaps playing higher teams will work for some players, but you have be carefull with confidence sometimes. Ton doing the opposite playing lower teams cwm welfare, fleur dy llys cant see why myself but then again Dean Morris knows a little more than this armchair manager eh.

I agree Geezer and its a shame that people are always looking to knock clubs that are experiencing problems off the pitch as was also the case with Barry Town. Sometimes I put it down to jealousy. Would like you to join us Geezer if you are not already attached to a club. If we were able to get more helpers to join us off the pitch and on our committee we could run it as Hugh would prefer. Most clubs are short of manpower but we all fight hard to keep our clubs in existance.

Interesting to know how much your club has spent on players in the last few years compared to how much you spent on your ground Huw? Agree that clubs should look at developing on, off and around the field and spend thier monies accordingly in doing so but think pontys ground aint anywhere near as bad as some other areas?

Fairplay you run Ponty the way you want to m8, just pointing out the spectator experience after all thats why we do it isn't it ? I have no reason to be jealous Ponty , just lessons don't seem to have been learnt Leighton Samuel ring any bells,Money will always dry up its unsustainable sorry just my opinion, you have to build from within youth, youth youth Ponty town is a bigger catchment area than little old Porth , so why are you struggling for committee, how many ex players involved with the club , questions that need asking and answering. I was honestly dismayed when I attended a Gent Eve at a club in your Div to hear the mockery being made of Ponty Town "moneybags staying down again", "good enough for the big time Charlie's" etc etc But as you say none of my business my last comment on the subject see you on the 10th where i will expect afree half time cuppa, and If your as generous as Scrill a choccy biscuit, cos my diet ain't working again

Agree that clubs should look at developing on, off and around the field and spend thier monies accordingly in doing so but think pontys ground aint anywhere near as bad as some other areas? The ground like Pontys is RCT owned , but I will say my company has just spent around £300 to £400 on repairs, painting this close season, cant even get a tin white wash off council. One case in point we had build another dugout as the originals wouldn't hold 5 subs each.We had pay the Council a planning fee of £150 to get planning permission for another dugout on a council owned field,we then had raise £2000 to build it !!!. With fantastic support from everyone inside the club it was done. Pontys is far from the worse and Dinas Park is far from the best, but Ponty as a club don't seem short of working capital, you need a youth structure, a lick paint, couple barrier repairs and whey hey looks a million dollars but cost very little, gives the club a better profile, you cant wear blinkers...first team, first team etc Every single first team squad member pays £5 every sat , thats the rules,no questions ,they don't get petrol money either why do they want play Porth I ask you?Because they enjoy it, the camaraderie is first rate they play for each other no big time Charlie's, the coaches, managers put in so many UNPAID hrs its unbelievable. We decided as a Committee to go all out to regain Welsh league status the town deserved that it saddens me to see some of the old names, famous teams no longer around,we strike a balance you only have to look at the squad this season when we kick off against Cambrian next sat there will be 11 of the squad who played in the Amateur lge in 2007 , no big time Charlie's. A player has left us this season to go 4 miles up road in the same division, best luck to him. We all hear stories of certain players on this, hes on that pure fiction in most cases. My Chairmen got his head on his shoulders the future welfare of AFC Porth is the most important thing from u7 to senior , there isn't one without the other.

Huw nice to see your making friends again!! Why you have to continually have a go at other clubs i will never know?!? You seem to have forgotten a few seasons ago when you paid your way out of the amateur league!! And are you seriously telling us that all your players pay £5 to play and don't receive anything?? Come on now, we all know thats not the truth. And this claim that 11 players in your squad are from the Amateur League squadHaha. The other day you said on this board that it was 14 out of your match day 20. Is it 11 or is it 14 now Huw?? And i doubt very much there is 11 and even if there is very few of them will be in the starting 11. And do you seriously take 20 players on a match day?? I'm sure the people on the comittee at Ponty work hard for their club, just because they've got fewer volunteers doesn't make them any less of a club. Pontypridd has always been and always will be a rugby town, so to use the fact it's a bigger catchment area is complete rubbish. Come on now Huw start trying to be a friendlier to others. Maybe you are being the big time charlie right now, dishing out the abuse to others clubs now that Porth are Division 1......you weren't critising other clubs when you were going down to the Amateur League were you!!

Obviously Huw you know your club better than others an I believe you that most players prob have to earn some of thier cash for playing. Are u sayin they pay for a pontoon, lotto or something like that? Just curious? If so good idea to get your players to invest in the club. Does that allow you to spend more on the ground an youth? You do speak some sence Huw but sometimes it seems smothered in bulls**t as well. But I hope Porth do have a successful season an they can definately compete with cam & ton. I hear good stuff of cambrain at the moment with a strong academy setup. Do clubs have ambition to invest in such? A club in my area looked into it but the cost of sustaining an the Amount of work and coaches needed seemed to put them off? Seems like they are building towards WPL. Good luck to ponty, Porth an the rest. I'm sure it'll be a rollercoaster for many as these look to be the toughest leagues yet! Well good luck to ponty, Porth an the rest.

Your right, you never said they don't receive anything, but what you did say was that they all pay £5 every saturday, implying that they pay cons to play. When the actual reality is they sell tickets to their friends/family/whoever then that is paid to the club. They then pick up their money from the club for playing. So they don't actually pay a fiver to play do they!! And yeah go on then, name the 11 who were in your Amateur League squd who are in your squad of 16 now.

Huw, you appear to be poking sticks into a hornets nest here, careful fella cos typically people who do that tend to get stung.. I was at Ponty Town 2 seasons ago and hope they do well, lots of friends there. As for our new signing, why should it upset the player you lost to a team 4 miles up the road.. As for yr dig at why Ton Pentre are playing lesser sides pre season is once again disrespectful, we played 4.. Merthyr Town, Camarthen Town, Pontyclun and Cwm Welfare (who we have played for the last 2 seasons) we had 2 games called off and tried in vain to arrange numerous others..

@ Barmy Army. RVW they pay £5 every week weather they sell totes,Lottery call it what you like if they dont sell that week they dont get "travel expenses" end of so yes they do pay cons £5 every week. @ redmogsy ok neil lets for arguments sake totally hypothetical here say someone of the initials JB approached your club and said I have been offerd £40 a week to play at say TP, and if you match that I will sign for you and you say sorry we are not interested cos every player at our club is treated the same no sliding scale same right cross the board, how do yopu think that a certain palyer who apperently left to go 4 miles up the road because he wasnt the highest paid player will react ??
