Thanks huw! Good idea to get players to invest! All the best for the season. Anybody know if any div1 sides are likely to apply to welsh prem this year?

Can only see bridgend applying for promotion but they've not got the necessary youth teams to get promoted I don't think or any uefa licensed manager or coaches - they'd have to reappoint their management team to get promoted. Barry only will if the sale of their club goes through I believe.

What about the likes of haverfordwest? I hear the only teams with academy licenses will be them and Cambrian? (a criteria needed for promotion). But Cambrian prob still need to continue some ground development? So prob only likely is Haverfordwest...

Sorry completely forgot about haverfordwest- they are the only team in welsh league div 1 who right now would get a domestic license. Cambrian would need to do an awful lot of work to their ground.

So you started with 14, then went down to 11, now i've got you down to 9. 6 of which will be in the starting 11. next week. Come on now Huw, get your facts right before you shout your mouth off on here!!

Give the guy a break, Porth have done fantastically well, the amount of expenses/pay that clubs spend is a nearly always secretive so why make an example out of Porth. I agree it would be better for Huw not to have said anything at all but at least he contributes! If the teams can afford to pay then good luck, most players in the welsh league would earn alot more in the equivalent english leagues as there is far more money there.

the standard is also much better in the english leagues though, much more emphasis on technical play and no place for the big bruisers or headless chickens we see in the welsh league.
this might be because the facilities are better, pitches allow passing football... but that's another can of worms completely.

im not so sure the standard is that much better if at all... if you go and take a bunch of players on e.g £40 a game in England, I have heavy doubts they would be as gifted as the boys in Wales on £40 a game.
Additionally, I also believe that Welsh football is slowly changing its approach from bruisers and headless chickens to a more tactical and technical approach

Huw , i think its best if we just let the football do the talking and the chairmen and the people helping around the football club get on with their own jobs.
just an opinion of a neutral

Truth, I spoke to an official of Merthyr some time ago ,and the concensus there is that A) The facilities in the Western league are no better than in the Welsh League. B) The Standard of football is not as good (Overall) as the first Div Welsh. Merthyr went through the Western League 2nd Div like a hot knife through butter. If you are old enough to remember when Welsh clubs were in the FA Cup, very rarely were Welsh League Clubs beaten by Level 4 or 5 English League clubs

Unfortunately or fortunately depending how you look at it Scril, i am not old enough to remember, however if you notice I am not comparing the welsh league to the english leagues, I was specifically refering to the fact that players on a given wage in Wales (IN MY PERSONAL OPINION) are of a better calibre than those who play in the english system on the same given wage. If you are to compare it on leagues, many say that the Welsh Prem is probably equal standard to the lower half of the blue square prem (or conference as we know it). If that is true, then the welsh league div 1 should be slightly below the conference - and I know for a fact that most players slightly below the conference earn alot more than your average welsh league div 1 player.
