Congratulations to third division clubs UWIC and Cardiff Grange Harlequins in their terrific victories yesterday.
Great to see the third division clubd carrying the flag for the Welsh Football League.
Always said, there is not a great deal of difference between the divisions.

Westwalian, of all the rubbish I have read on this site in recent days, that is the most ridiculous claim of them all!!! The gulf simply between Division 2 & 1 is a big one - case & point being the promoted three all woefully struggling in Div 1 this year having dominated last term! Seriously, it's such a ridiculous claim that I can barely believe I am even responding to it.
The teams promoted from Div 3 last year: - Cwmaman have made a massive number of signings (their Manager stated this) for their Div 2 campaign. The Abertillery team who got promoted as runners up last year look odds on for the drop with the same squad and Aberbargoed, despite making a number of signings look set for mid table mediocrity and seem unable to stop opponents scoring a lot of goals after having been Div 3 Champions last term in dominant fashion.
The gulf - especially in Division 1 - is huge. To claim otherwise gives a ridiculously incorrect impression to those who may not know otherwise!

Cup football usually means league, position, and form goes out the window. Case in point: we beat UWIC one week and the next they beat Bala Town convincingly 4-1. Congratulations to CGH and UWIC though: a fine achievement reaching the last 16

Sorry if I have upset you Legend 7.
Honestly, I have watched Lido, Aberaman, Garden Village, Pontardawe, Goytre Utd, West End, Cambrian & Clydach and Barry this season and a number of 2nd and some 3rd division games.
I believe the first Division regulars always seem to have a prolific goalscorer, but elsewhere I do not think the void is great with the better 2nd and 3rd Division sides.
That is my opinion, and as this is a forum I am entitled to my view.
Obviously, if these clubs were better than those in the 1st division week in week out they would be playing at their level.
Did your club get knocked out early in the competition? or are they one of the big payers who have lost to the minnows of the 3rd division? Possibly Saturday.

there's a massive difference between the divisions. as someone said, the Cup brings some shocks and UWIC are always an exception to any rule as their squad varies depending on the players they manage to pick up from pro clubs and the uni calendar etc. similarly grange quins have tallented players but their problem last season was mainly discipline.
but overall the league tables do not lie. a teammate once said to me that even in division 1, the team that wins most often is not the one that plays the best football, but the team that makes less mistakes.

promoted teams usually do well because of the confidance thing, cups are totally different we were 2-0 up at Gap Connahs Quay with 7 mins go, poor discipline and a never say die attitude from them got them out of jail. But if we played in the same Lge week in week out they would finish above us every time. good point about goalscorers, Goytre with Ryan and Waters,Cambrian with Bertorelli. et all There is not much difference between the bottom half 1, top half 2, and same with bottom 2 and top 3.but at the top there is abig difference.
