I am sure the League of Wales were toying with the idea of summer football but its seems to have gone quiet on that front now. As for our League, there are certainly many positives for going down this avenue but many clubs wont be able to take part due to their grounds having to share with cricket. Me personally, being a bit of a traditionalist, likes the season in its current format but its sometimes hard to defend when the weather grips and there is weeks of postponments which plays havoc with the league fixtures.

Ive spoken to quite a few Irish league fans through forums and asked them about the pros/cons about playing summer football and funnily enough not one of them mentioned hard pitches, which seems to be the basis of any argument ive heard here in Wales.

At the higher clubs nthey prorbal;y have groundsman. therefore the pitch is covered in green stuff. I think it's called grass with negates the hardness of the ground. I just don't like the idea because like Graham I'm a traditionalist. Why, I even oppose camera evidence for any reason although I'd draw the line at reintroducing laces in footballs. Laces in football boots would be ok though, preferably black and in the middle.

I think its a bit poor when the only reason you are against it is because you are a traditionalist (stuck in your ways) This is the biggest problem in Welsh Football today.

No Albion ...if you knew me or my club you would know that not to be the case. Besides that would make me a conservative which is different from a traditionalist, and I'm not one of those...no sirree. I wouldn't die in a ditch over it but it wouldn't be in my top ten of things to do to improve welsh football.
What would yours be?

Investment, investment, investment Lee the only way we can improve Welsh football is to improve the facilities at grounds to attract families to watch the game. If you go to English football clubs that play at a similar level to us the facilities are far superior. You only have to go Ellwood about 10 miles from you and see the facilities there and the money they received from the English FA. They had a grant for £120k to build new changing rooms and clubhouse, nobody has even ever visited to check that is what they spent the money on.
The FAW have ploughed millions into the International team for over 50 years now with what to show for it? Imagine if that money had been used to improve grass roots football in Wales. The pyramid is very unequal, you know very well if you don't get the foundations right the structure will never be stable enough to support what is above it.
I also feel that changing to summer football is a good start to attracting people back to watch the game in Wales .
Also in some areas there are far too many clubs all vying for the same support, sponsorship and players.

too many clubs is exactly the problem, which means resources (such as players, sponsors, fans, facilities and cold hard cash) are too thinly spread.
look at cwmbran - three clubs in a small town without a penny to spend between them, all struggling along and not making any great progress. imagine what a team they'd have if they combined into one club!
would never happen though, too many egos.

Couldn't agree more watcher, one terrific club would be made from those 3. Nobody could argue with that!

For the 3 of them to join together would be the only way any of them will ever play in the Welsh Prem. CWMBRAN UNITED
You are right to many ego's. Will never happen.

You're talking tosh!
Why would the majority come from Celtic? Division one or no division 1, they are not exactly setting it alinght, and forgive me if I point out that the other side who would "get a couple" in this ficticious side won a major trophy last season.
In short, the FAW are a joke, until that is sorted and we get people who are not only in it for their free trips to away games and free everything else and actually understand the modern game we are stuffed!

i think it's a sad state of affairs when we're not even mentioning Cwmbran Town in that argument. for what it's worth i think the squad would be about 70% celtic, 30% croesy. celtic didn't get promoted for no reason. but then again a Cwmbran Utd side would attract people back who play in other places too. how about this? Church Morris Luck Davies Creese Willis Perry Sallis Howarth Jenkins Williamson looks good to me
