Sully Sports won their league (again) but lost in a play off (again) so are denied their place in the Welsh League. So its absolutely disgraceful that Cwmaman from West Wales finish second in their league but still manage promotion wihout even the thought of a play off. Nothing whatsoever against the West Walians and who can blame them for taking the easy chance of promotion but on the other hand how totally unfair that they win nothing and get promoted in a fairly poor league when Sully Sports win their league outright but end up with nothing to show for it. In the name of fair play and betterment of the Welsh League why don't they slot in Sully Sports ?

A disgrace what are you on about. Rules are Rules its not Cwmamman's fault that Sully couldn't win their play off game. The same happened to Cwmamman back in 1998 when they lost a play off final against Garden Village at BP Llandarcy.

The rules are set out at the start of the season, each area has 1 team promoted to welsh league from each area association, if the team who finished top do not meet the criteria then 2nd can be promoted, this also applies to welsh league Division 1 teams.

The manager and coach and all, knew the rules (does not mean they are right). Yes very good luck to Cwmamman Utd on being promoted from the Neath and District League as runners up. Nice bit of luck that the winners did not go up. The equivelant League in the Vale of Glamorgan promotes to the South Wales Amateur or South Wales Senior League Div 2 . We have won the league and and passed the Welsh League criteria three times then to face play offs. Also winning the League before we had the criteria. The thing that confuses people is that South Wales = biggest population, plus nine district leagues, and two senior leagues, Many more players but same promotions as other Associations .....that is the difference. Our opponents and a very good team Rhoose had seven Ex Sully players in their squad. We were unable to provde Welsh league football for them so they went to other teams who could with this years team with some very good other signings were deserved winners. But they would have been devistated if they had not one the play off. ut thats the rules not that i or anyone else have found a rule to say there must be a p[lay off! Only guidance from the exellent Welsh Football magazine who tells it as it is. Dinas Powys and Betws from South Wales were promoted in the same season after an appeal from Bettws, Its going to be a very difficult season for us to again win the league our club is ready to play Welsh League football if given the chance.

I believe that SWFA were mainly instumental in insisting on play offs after very strong appeals from South Wales Amateur League( DID WE NEED ANOTHER LEAGUE?)With the coming amagamation of both Leagues (my guess is season 2014/15)we will (lose?) 16 teams from the pyramid, lets hope you dont have to wait that long.

I think my comments have been misinterpreted, as I stated cwmaman have taken advantage of the situation and who can blame them! M The case is more so to do with the morality of the rules. Yes rules are rules but put yourself in Sully's situation and in the context of the bigger picture weigh up the achievements of Sully and Cwmaman. It makes the rule book and fairness look ridiculous.

Sully know the score and have failed on each occasion but maybe there's an argument for the losers of the play off to have another crack by then playing a one off game against the next lowest Welsh 3rd division club to see who takes there place in the league! It would keep clubs on there toes and also let the football do the talking!

so if the South Wales, Gwent and West Wales champions all met criteria they would take the place of the bottom 3 in the Welsh League and the losers of the play off have a game against the 4th from bottom team in the Welsh League

Cwmamman would have had to play a playoff IF a team from the & Carmarthenshire, Pembroke or Swansea league had a team wanting to come up. Just out of curiosity, do the Gwent teams automatically get a promotion spot, because there are a lot of teams who have come up lately. And another question, what would happen if more than 3 teams apply for promotion, I:e 5-6-7 teams. What would happen then.

No not correct . If a team that were champions of Swansea Senior League ,Carmarthen or Pembroke had wanted to go up then Cwmamman as Runners up could not go up.

As it stands i believe the Gwent FA, South Wales FA and West Wales FA all have one place to promote a club to the Welsh league.
Gwent have only one senior league, the Gwent County league, the winner or runner up if eligible can be promoted.
South Wales FA have two senior league the Amateur league and Senior leagues, the winners of which have a play off if they are eligible for promotion. The play off winner then takes the welsh league spot.
West Wales don't have a senior league but four feeder leagues, If all four winners are eligible for promotion then they have a semi final and then a final play off. This never happens in theory, as West Wales clubs are reluctant to take up a place in the Welsh league due to the traveling.

Dont want to drag this on but my original point was- The south Wales FA area is more than the others put together ,with more senior and district leagues and players by far. Yes we knew that we would be required to complete a play off if both Senior and Amateur League Champions met the criteria. Lord knows we should know after doing it three times. The only reference to play offs is in the exellent Welsh Soccer magazine who tried to make some sense of it and left it open. Wonder if a tean challenged the play off instructions what would happen?
