Hi all - some of you may know me, others may not. I do the press for Port Talbot Town and other bits and bobs related to the Welsh Premier League. Anyway, I've decided to try and cover South Wales football from the WPL down, possibly to Level Five (depending on the support I can get). I'm hoping that people from different clubs will be able to submit reports and news. I'm trialling the idea on my own site ( www.matthewburgessfootball.wordpress.com) for a few months and if it goes ok, I'd perhaps look to create a new site for the start of next season. How successful the side is, will largely depend on how much support I can get from the clubs and leagues. I don't expect to get every club to commit but as long as there's more than the same few clubs submitting news, then I think it would work out. I'm a big fan of Dave Jones' North Wales football blog for the Daily Post paper (great resource) and I think it would great if South Wales had something similar. I'm hoping you'll have some views on this and some of you may even want to contribute.

Well Matthew, you get a big thumbs up from me! I, too, get frustrated at the lack of news about the Welsh League especially as a lot of clubs, my club especially, have absolutely crap websites!

Thanks for the positive response so far. Whether this works or not, it's clear that there is need for something.
For those interested please send me a private message with an email address I can contact you on and I can give you more details.
My main concern is getting enough clubs representated so that reports don't become repetitive.

Come on without, Come on within, You'll not see nothing like the Mighty Quins. Well not so mighty judging by the amount of infighting at the club!!!

Don't flatter yourself mate I've got more important and interesting things going on in my life than to consider penning bumf about other clubs or people's goings on. On the subject of a devoted Welsh League column in the same realms as the Gwent boys then that's a great idea! KL

Hi again all - I had started updating news from the Welsh League and below on my blog with a view of trialling things out until the end of the season.
Unfortunately, even after a few weeks I am getting a minimal amount of info through - I am very grateful to those who have submitted reports.
I was expecting a greater response given the need for some additional coverage and it's already evident that things aren't working as hoped.
Thanks for those who have sent things in but sadly, I'm going to put this idea on the back burner for now.
