A beautiful autumn afternoon in the Vale saw a pretty even encounter between 2 well matched sides. The home side started well, with their strong midfield pushing on and Sean Nash looking dangerous, the opening goal went to the hosts on 30 mins a sweeter half volley you'll go a long way to match gave the street keeper no chance. An equaliser soon followed carro's through ball found fowler whose shot went in via the post.Llantwit had time to rattle the strret bar before the break. Both teams cancelled each other second half and a draw looked likely, but then with 20 mins left Mr. Mealins for reasons beknown to himself has a major downer on us.Paul Carro turns full back in the box gets dragged down play on "the ball" his response,on 80mins aball played into the street area hits Nicky Fish on the shoulder the finger points straight to the spot, handball it struck your elbow is the explanation.a well struck penalty finds the corner game over.A good game marred by this egomaniac who'd had a decent match thus far, still a vast improvement on the 4-0 defeat in the cup back in september

Ah Mish the referee had a decent match up until the 80th min, when he suddenly turned into a n egomaniac, and awarded a penalty aginst you, who'd be a referee , especially witout linesman. (welcome back , by the way)

You've obviously never come across him in div.1,as he normally plys his trade in the lower echelons. We've had the pleasure of him 4 times in the past few seasons and each time there is controversy,he actually was having a good game by his standards for the majority of the match, but if we don't see him again this year I'd be more than happy.I used the word egomaniac respectfully as there are plenty of four-letter words that are more apt to describe him

Probably be adding to this thread tomorrow,as I've just found out that due to a change to the original official, our friend Mr Mealins is "doing us" in the return fixture.

We had Mr Mealins for our fixture away at Newport Civil Service. He was having a decent game although he let a few tackles go unpunished including a two footed lunge by one of the Civil players. However in the second half with Ponty winning 1-0 a Civil player went in waist high on our keeper. Unfortunately, our keeper reacted with his head and saw red. The Civil player only received a yellow and after that Mr Mealins lost control. It resulted in us conceding a goal to only earn a draw. He isn't the worst ref we have had this season but he's another one who thinks that the game is a showcase for the ref's talents!!!

Obviously a NCS speciality then as one of their players almost cut our keeper in half in our recent reserve match leaving him with a full boot imprint on his chest, followed then by a swift punch in the lower back to one of our other lads as he went up for a header - seen by ref who (for about the 6th time) said I'm not telling you again calm it down or I'm booking you - you know that your always going to get some hard/physical games but this ref had absolutely no control over the match or players whatsoever and was totally at the mercy of the home team, this then followed up by a Mr Magoo ref at a home game who totally spoilt a great game of footy by wanting to be the centre of attention. I'm a firm believer in backing and supporting our referees after all there cant be many more thankless jobs but sometimes I think there's great truth in "those that can - play, those that cant - ref" !

Dont' think we have had many good referees all season to be fair, but in the game corcerned with Pontypridd there was never a 2 footed tackle and has for the keeper the player only had eyes for the ball so no intent, his reaction was to head butt striaght red correct decision, has for the 2nds i can not comment but not a NCS speciallity has you claim.

Certainly agree on the referee point, standard has seemed very poor and without a doubt for WL reserve games the difference in not having proper linesman has made a huge difference, leaving many of the refs I've seen floundering like a fish out of water. Regarding the NCS game I've obviously not seen all your games so maybe I did speak out of turn but the comment was related directly to the game I saw. Possibly you could give the lad going in against the keeper the benefit of the doubt, it didnt appear initially to have any intent and possibly he panicked when he saw this 6ft lump flying towards him and so extended his leg to protect himself but it was bad enough for the lad to need checking for cracked ribs. However the punch was a low point especially as the NCS boys were all over us football wise by then and had wrapped the game up. The fact is that we turned up with quite a young team and the NCS lads realised quickly that they werent going to match them for youth so would teach them a lesson in playing physical football, which is fine as long as you have a strong ref who can keep a lid on it before it gets to far. Sadly seems to be the story of the season of the men in black wanting to make a name for themselves

The FAW FairPlay tables tell a story, the third div traditionally has lower disciplinary points due to no linesmen whereas one and two divs have 3 sets of eyes on the game.

There was a two footed tackle in the NCS v Pontypridd game. It happened right in front of me but all Mr Mealins did was have a quiet word. If you can call it a quiet word as Mr Mealins does tend to bark out his comments!!! As for the incident with our keeper being sent off, yes your player probably did have his eye on the ball. Unfortunately, it was in our keeper's midriff at the time!!! But no hard feelings. It's all in the game and we all get together and have a friendly pint afterwards. Looking forward to visiting Civil and the other third division clubs again next season following our total f**k up at Treharris last night!! Absolutely fuming at our second half performance in which we blew a 2-0 lead. But credit to Treharris for their terrific battling performance to earn the points.
