Why would the New Saints want to play their European game in the city stadium. They must have spent thousands to obtain their license which is an FAW requirement, all premier clubs must have a European standard ground. They would lose any home advantage and limit their fans who would be loathed to travel all that distance on a thu night, don’t make sense to me

TNS ground is only up to European standard to 2nd qualifying round. After that, they have to play somewhere else in Wales that is up to the necessary standard for the round. From what I saw on S4C my local bus stop had enough seats to cover the crowd.

need at least 1000 permanent seats and a higher level of specific requirements. Wrexham was not available and match has to be played in Wales (so nearby shrewsbury not allowed either) Thanks to TNS Wales have managed to keep 4 places in Europe next season which is at least 200000 euros per round. You enter the competition knowing the rules and at least TNS are better off to the tune of 600000 euros.

This new Europa League "drop down" for TNS, has meant that even they are likely to go out next week..
..any trivia heads able to tell me when the last time a Welsh Premier side was still in a European competition when the domestic season started?

Thought TNS had been in the final qualifying round for the Europa league group phase a few years ago. After a few searches found it on their wikipedia page. In 2010 TNS entered the CL qualifiers at the 2nd round stage, and beat Bohemians 4-1 on agg. Lost 6-1 to Andelecht in the 3rd round. Dropped into the Europa league final qualifying round, drawn to play CSKA Sofia of Bulgaria. Lost 3-0 away on August 19,drew 2-2 at Wrexham on August 26,domestic season started Aug 14.

Not sure of the official attendance but I'd say it was over 1.000 easily . As said by others tns had their hands tied as to where they could play There was a good mix of tns fans and interested neutrals.i enjoyed it.
