porttalbottown.co.uk/postponed-port-talbot-town-v-ammanford/POSTPONED – Port Talbot Town v Ammanford By Craig Mapstone / August 6, 2018 Port Talbot Town Football Club regret to inform supporters that this weekend’s Welsh Football League opener against Ammanford at Victoria Road has been postponed. Unfortunately, over the summer the Victoria Road pitch has taken a bit of a battering from the prolonged dry spells and as a result the necessary maintenance of the surface hasn’t been implemented in time. As a result, the football club felt it was in the best interests of all parties to re-schedule the fixture to a latter date. We’d like to thank Ammanford AFC for their understanding in the matter as well as the Welsh Football League for their co-operation. Port Talbot Town will now take on Ammanford at Victoria Road on Saturday 23rd of March 2019. Be sure to keep up to date with all the latest news in the usual social media outlets as well as porttalbottown.co.uk

Surely this is some sort of a joke. So div 1 clubs who didn’t have a tier 2 licence had to ground share with a club that does comply. So here we have a tier 2 license holder who can’t get their field sorted just like tier 3, 4 clubs have managed. Or arranged an alternative venue. What a pathetic bunch of imbeciles. Punt Talbet are the shadiest most corrupt shower of shit that has ever graced the Welsh football pyramid. The club stinks from top to the rotten core.

Surely, a case should be made for Punt Talbet to be docked 3pts for not having their playing surface up to the required standard. Last season they called some matches off for floodlight failure...no juice to power the lights last season + a lack of juice to water the pitch this year. Unbelievable Jeff. They should play in the league that bears their title - the Punt Talbet + District League....and not the top division either.

Why don't they reverse the fixture and play at Ammanford on Saturday?

I'm fairly sure based on previous posts that Ammanford are playing at Briton Ferry this season.
With Briton Ferry playing away on Friday night you'd think reversing the fixture would be the logical choice?

So there is club's in the welsh league forced to spend money on things that arnt necessary in my opinion (and the majority of people) to gain certain criteria , on the flip side of that there is poor old Monmouth Town who got relegated for not having reached this criteria. But Port Talbot are allowed to call off the 1st game of the season for not having enough grass on their pitch. I assume, briton ferry, afan lido, goytre united and Trefelin will be calling their games off to after the scorching heat that port Talbot has had. Something fishy going on???

Why such a downer on PT. There are other clubs in WL1, who achieved TIER2 licences in April, yet unable to play on their "home" pitch for a few months. At least with PT its just 1 week

Prob best grass pitch in WL1 (compare how mant home games they called off last season, compared to others incl LM) , floodlight prob once I can recall, betting obviously not good, but being dealt with through proper authorities, sure time will tell if it was a club matter or individuals within club.
