See in the local rag today that Penybont have been given planning permission to erect another 250-seater grandstand + telly gantry. That's all very pleasing + shows real ambition at Bryntirion Park. But two aspects of the piece in the paper made me chuckle. Residents close to the ground fear another 250 fans will cause traffic congestion. Are they bonkers? It would take close to 10 matches for them to get 250 fans in the ground + they would only just hit the new 500-seat capacity in an entire season. Sadly, Bridgend has never (+ I doubt it ever will be) a football town. The other piece is more sinister. A clause in planning permission being granted for the stand is that the club pays £8k (yes £8k) towards the cost of yellow lines being drawn on the road outside the ground. IMO £8k for double yellow lines is salty in the extreme.
