Still feeling pretty peeved that Newport and Wrexham were allowed to play in this cup. Not only, that but make a mockery of it by Newport playing the day after a league game and Wrexham playing in 2 different cups on the same day.
You are either English or Welsh.... sorry cant have it both ways.

same with Merthyr mind, but is anyone surprised at anything our governing body does, take yesterdays draw made during the day and revealed "Exclusively" on Sgorio, by revealed I mean flashed up on screen for 30 secs that's how we found out who we are playing an utter disgrace. We were ball no 3 ,useless information if you dont see the draw eh. Carmarthen away happy with that only 2 places above us in the pyramid system, not saying we will smash them but we will certainly give em a game.

It will also help Huw, that they have sacked their manager Tomi Morgans.

I was quite amused when I saw on the Welsh League Home page the 2 match reports on the AFC Porth v Cambrian Cup tie. People used to have a go at AFC Llwydcoed's match reports as being very biase but I dont know which of these latest Cup reports are true. In fairness a lot of time must have been spent in writing these reports and the scribes must be congratulated. I would be interested in the comments of a neutral at the game who could select the more accurate report.

I wrote this a couple of years ago on our board...mind you it only explains my approach. "When is a hopeful punt the same as an unstoppable shot? Poor defending and not great attacking? Simple. When its in two match reports written by officials or fans of each team about the same match. Its fun. Try it. Trawl the Welsh League websites and see for yourself. Corus Steel's equalising goal last week against us was an 'unstoppable shot' (See Corus Steel). In my match report it was a long range effort which caught our keeper out. I've been in trouble for my match reports before referring to one game a few seasons ago as 'Carnage' which wasn't to the liking of the Welsh league committee. A tad over sensitive I thought given its passage into common parlance. Last season I was regaled on our own website for not admitting that we'd been hammered (we had been), instead, concentrating on how suicidal I was (figuratively speaking). But that's not the point of the match reports. I'm not a journalist. I'm the bloody chairman for crissakes which means on Saturdays I'm #1 fan. Completely and utterly biased. Its not in my job desription to be fair. Sod that. I don't even see the other team. I was asked last week to name the 'man of the match' for the opposition. Fat chance. I just don't see the other team. I wouldn't know if Mara bloody dona was playing for Pontyclun. It cuts the other way too. If we lose or frustrate the hell out of me then I do tend to take it out on the lads! That makes it a little bit fairer I suppose and of course the reports have to have a little bit of credibility. So tune in this week as I'll be writing another report and hoping the day will come when we're big enough and good enough to get real journalists to cover our games - if I can get Terry Daly passed the Coldra you never know. « Last Edit: Oct 9, 2009, 4:02am by Lee Robson »

i chucked a neutral match report out from a game i saw the other week and noone even commented on it the point being, the heavy bias surrounding the match reports stirs up debate and keeps interest alive. totally self-perpetuating - keep it up.

Fairplay I have read the two reports and the thing that has stuck out most to me is the timing of the sending offs that AFC Porth have put in theirs. They have wrote that Lee Matthews was sent off at 84 mins and Michael Jones in stoppage time yes?. The cam report is wrote by the man who records and creates the highlights of the game and states that Lee Matthews was sent off around the hour mark and Michael Jones followed him around 10/15 minutes later and not in stoppage time. The timings are quite a bit off from the AFC Porth report??? In the Porth report they state at the beginning that Cambrian were missing Daniel Lever, when in fact they were also missing Jamie Rewbury, Scott Seldon and Ian Thomas in this game. Not saying that these players would have made the outcome of the game different but if you're going to name a player who was missing then name the others that couldn't be part of the game due to different reasons too?

i don't think it's Porth's perogative to list every player missing from the opposition; there's no journalistic integrity at stake here. i assume they included Lever simply because he used to play for Porth. suspension lists are published, injury lists are not.
On timings - i agree that if you're going to specify when in the game something happened it's usually a good idea to check your watch.
However having looked at the two reports of the Jones red card, Porth state that it was "as the game headed into stoppage time" and Cam do not mention any timing, only that the next action after the red card was the end of normal time. Seems about right to me.
Mind you it can be quite difficult to write a match report from memory, especially after having watched 2 hours of eventful local derby football followed by a penalty shootout!
I'm sure they both gave their best accounts and personally I commend them for putting together something readable rather than the outright drivel that comes from some clubs or even worse, the total lack of a write up from half the sides in the league.

The vaguer the better....it drives people mad. Anyhting between 0-15 ...its 'early doors' 15-30 "Midway through the half" 30-45 "as the game approached half time " ...... ;D

just watched the Cambrian video, the quality of which was excellent as always. it's always hard to tell from highlights but it certainly seemed as though there was a lot of action in the 2nd half of normal time and then 2 sendings off in fairly quick succession.

As with most things I do our match reports ,not from memory I write it down including timings in a small pad and re write it laters. This time I waited for the video and used the 2 scources. Jeffers you are spot on as Dan is an ex porth player hence my reference to him and not to other missing players for Cam.I knew full well there was an ex Cam player playing for us , some people have bit on the Cam forum my wicked sense humour to the fore again. As a Porth supporter I mainly write down our side of the story, most other teams do their own so not suprising it might look a little biased, if I wrote everything down wouldnt see the game !! The only person who will now the exact timings is the ref Mr Harrington, and of course Cam when they get the sending off reports. I start my stopwatch on the refs whistle but cant account for stoppage time thats the sole discretion of the ref. Lee was definately sent off around 80/85 mins and Mikes second yellow was timed by me on 92 but im not perfect. As usual Mr Robson makes the valid point with match reports. We were missing another 4 for various reasons but cant list them all, only meantioned Orchie cos hes been in squad lately others long term injuries, season long 2 of them. The video has obviously been edited down to just 8 mins, credit Ryan for his time and effort, has anybody noticed the video ends abruptly when the winning pen goes in.. haha I wouldnt want watch the opposition celebrate on the pitch either.
