Vale of Glamorgan looking at how to recover the costs they incur maintaining single use sports facilities such as bowling greens and football pitches.
Called out in Appendix A, a list of facilities they'll consider for changing how they charge or maintain for use of the facility.
On that list. Llantwit Major, Dinas Powys, Rhoose football club facilities...
Possibly not Jenner Park however, due to the balance of diverse use, the number of groups using it and the cost versus rent they receive.

Nothing will happen that will cost Barry any money it never does. What a great facility for a new club to get for nothing.
The rest of the vale clubs will probably get hit though

Nothing will happen that will cost Barry any money it never does. What a great facility for a new club to get for nothing. The rest of the vale clubs will probably get hit though You want some Barry honey over those sour grapes? If you read the report, it’s a simple equation where they are looking at exclusive facilities that cost more to maintain than bring in via rental. So, as quoted within the detail, if a typical pitch costs £5,800 to maintain and receives less than £5,800 in rent from a body receiving exclusive rights, then they are looking at ways of changing that. Higher maintenance costs than rental costs for sports pitches are costing them £400,000 per annum across the Vale. Due to the school sports days, running clubs, athletics, womens football, kids football, disability football etc at Jenner, the rental and useage works out for the Vale. As ever, it’s the out lying minor but wealthy villages and villagers getting subsidised by the good people of Barry. But being serious, it’s an interesting report, and I can see a lot of bowls clubs etc giving the Vale a hard time over this. My genuine opinion is that whilst a bowls green might be relatively expensive, it’s potentially keeping a whole bunch of pensioners socialising and active. The same as allotments. I pay £70 for my allotment. But the thinking is, it’s a green space and its keeping me healthier than if I didn’t have it. So losing the allotments probably raises social care costs and impacts badly on air quality. It’s a tricky conundrum for them. Nobody wants to pay more tax, the alternatives are more rent or less facilities.

Not sour grapes
"The poor people of Barry" have always been funded by the rest of the vale.
Just makes me laugh that the people in Barry pat themselves on the back so much when they haven't had to fund any 're developments like most other clubs have (Not just in the vale)
Also how much did the 4g pitch cost the club. Can't see the council funding one for other clubs in the vale.
