A bit quiet on here so I thought I would pose this fixture related question.
In August, teams have been drawn against the same team twice (home and away) in the league. Is this right to do ? I notice in the league rules (which are admittedly 3 years out of date on the league website) that is says fixtures will be arranged in a similar way to “The Football League”.
It’s a bit of a get-out because that could mean any number of things, however I don’t think this would happen in The Football League. I can understand that the league want to fit in some midweek fixtures in August against teams who are fairly close to each other, but it should be better than this. In most leagues the season is split in 2 halves (as far as possible) with regard to fixtures.
Given that the strength of teams often varies as the season goes on (some improve, some get worse), does it give an advantage/disadvantage to teams to play the same team twice in he first 3/4 weeks of the season ?

Hate the play each other twice in a matter of weeks. Totally kills the game especially if one team murders the other, and with the league starting so early the number of people still out on holidays etc makes it all a bit of a farce IMO. Far better to get cup rounds out of the way in August.

It makes no difference because the weather reaks havoc throughout the season which means some clubs play each other in close proximity anyhow . I can see the methodology is aimed at helping clubs who are near each other. All I can say is that if you’re on the murdering end of a whallopping then tough and if it works for you great. Hasn’t anyone considered that it might produce 2 evenly fought derby games ? If they did the cup games in August mid weeks you’d get the problems of last year when clubs without lights struggled to get games played if it went into extra time. I seem to remember Goytre sticking two fingers up to the cup due to an issue caused by this ?

I may be incorrect on the Goytre scenario but probably because I’m getting it muddled up by them being kicked out of the Welsh Cup for blatant cheating and players refusing to play in the Gwent Senior Cup because they weren’t being trousered. Pardon the pun but they’ve been dogged by all sorts of issues with the cups over the past few seasons.

It’s not just in August though, it seems to happen a few times through the season looking at the provisional fixtures. They could easily be swapped around. As for the weather, you can’t really legislate for that.

I would imagine there will be an early Llantwit v Penybont game or maybe even 2.
Expect teams will have their longer trips on the first few Saturdays.

Saw the picture of you celebrating promotion ,I wasnt surprised,Pontypridd Town have no morals. But hey thats ok,6 months of stress and harrasment off the FAW to clear my name of something you did eh ? Was told by your mates youd never be welcome at the club again.Says everything you need to know about them. Thank god for open forums like this though )
