I read this forum with interest occasionally and for a chuckle at the moaners but I’m afraid i now find myself as a contributor and moaner!
As someone who has played the game and follow Welsh football at all levels I was confident after a bit of research that I was doing the right thing by booking my son in for Academy trials at Taff’s Well over at their seniors ground last month. Anyway despite numerous enquiries by myself and other concerned parents we have been completely left in limbo with no decision forthcoming some 5 weeks after the trial. It seems that they haven’t had the courtesy to give feedback to unsuccessful children (well we must assume unsuccessful considering it was over 5 weeks ago). I’ve heard on the grapevine that second trials have been done which is unreal considering kids who attended the first trial haven’t had feedback. I find this beyond poor and it’s us parents that are left to try and lift their confidence and self esteem it’s soul destroying for my son especially when he hears friends have had positive contact from the club. My boy I was excited waiting for news and if the news would have been adverse but fed back positively by the club I’m sure he would have coped with that and worked on his game. Instead he like many others have just been left up in the air feeling like their rubbish. Surely successful and unsuccessful children should all be treated with the same courtesy. That academy is a shambles and someone needs to grow a spine and deliver feedback. I’m sure their mens team are well run and players treated well but come on this is children and instead of the academy having a positive impact on youngsters it seems it’s having a very negative impact on those keen kids who answered the advert for the academy but have been cast aside without the decency of an explanation. It’s not just my son in this situation there’s stacks of other parents banging their heads against a brick wall trying to get information from the club. Five weeks ago that’s pathetic and surely not following the guidelines of the FAW or whoever oversees the kids development?
