Not forgetting that D1 teams have to meet the new ground criteria by 30 April so that will have an effect on who goes down and also who can go up from D2.

Why is it never straight forward with this league ? I remember Bettws and maybe Ely going down from Div 3 a few years ago and staying up via appeal

Uncle Fester can you explain the comment regarding ground criteria affecting who goes down or up as I am not clear at all to what all of this means As I understand it, teams wanting to play in Div 1 next season must meet the new Tier 2 ground criteria by the end of this month. I don’t know what clubs (if any) will fail to meet the criteria but I can imagine that some might.

A few years ago, the grounds criteria for clubs playing at Tier 2 Welsh League Div1 was changed to include amongst others 250 seats. This was due for implementation by March 31 2017, this was changed subsequently to March 31 2018. In other words all existing Div1 clubs must have 250 seats or they will be unable to remain in Div1 next season. New clubs wishing to be promoted from Div2 require an initial 100 seats. There are a few Div1 clubs that won't make these requirements. Of the clubs presently in the top 4 of Div2, none at this time can meet this standard. As promotion within the pyramid system is controlled by the FAW the whole thing is uncertain at this time. Should a club not in the promotion places meet the requirements, they may be promoted if necessary.

Ponty are moving to a new ground, and I’ve heard that STM are also moving.

Of course Ponty are moving to a new ground, they keep reminding us, time and time again. But at this moment in time it hasn't even been started, then again we all know a 1000 seater floodlit 3G stadium can appear overnight. STM's new ground in St Melons is simply a much vaunted aspiration as we stand today. Both these clubs are to be admired for their ambition, but promotion can only be granted on the here and now, not on aspirations 6 months or 6 years in the future.
