A very shocking result. Can anyone enlighten us to what is going on at STM? sack their manager when flying high in the league, then getting stuffed 4-0 by bottom of the league. Makes me think they might have sacked the wrong guy! Stop Press: Valley Ram in defending Gareth Morgan shocker 😃 Every side has a bad day at the office let’s be fair and was anyone really shocked at this result? Really? These boys at STM are famously strong and very impressive at home but have always lacked the ability to adjust and show the discipline needed Away from home, that’s happened year after year to be fair. I’ve never had the runaround so much in a game as I did in my one visit to St Mellons, but when they came to us later in season it was like playing a different side. I predict a massive win for them in their next home game pretty fair analysis of stm there. Im not defending the guy by the way, in fact, i have issues with him burning through a huge budget at porth then leaving when the money ran out. (he also did a fairly good job on convincing Huw that it was ok for him to do that) However the sum sacking seemed different as they were doing so well.

Valleyram - I'm not too sure what's going on at STM at the moment but I will have a little guess. When the management team were sacked at STM they were "flying high" in 3rd position. STM currently sit in first position so they can't possibly fly any higher as it stands.
Referring to the shock result this weekend in which admittedly no one was expecting, there have been many other shock results whilst the previous manager was in charge. I'm referring to the 3 draws against clubs in and around West End who were Dinas Powys, Llwydcoed and Aberdare.
There's also the matter of 3 cup exits to sides in LOWER divisions than STM and a 6-1 demolishing at Pontypridd, whilst the previous management team were in charge.
STM had not won 4 games on the bounce all season until the previous manager departed.
Based on your comment I'm guessing you were looking to just poke the fire as you can't possibly have been serious with your comment.
Great effort though

Looks like another STM player has joined the forum. Welcome friend. You lot are unbelieveable on 3G fair play I still have nightmares about you 2 years on
Out of interest, did you lads ever play 4 games at home in a row before your recent run? We all know how good you are there
End of the day if you go up, nobody can really complain so time will tell - you weren’t really third were you though you were just behind Caldicot with about 35 games in hand and the only reason you are top now is Ponty aren’t playing ha. Real terms you were essentially 2nd and that’s where you are now.
It’s a bit disingenuous to make out that those teams who put you out of the Cups are somehow a failure though spa neither have lost a game all season and one of them s still in it now and on telly Saturday ha
From my experience of you, you will walk the top 3 if lots of your remainder games are home no matter who you play
Like I’ve said before I’m biased in favour of my former boss so best way to leave it is to see where you end up. I’ve a sneaky feeling you will be the ones smiling in May 👍🏻
Good luck to you though I’m sure it would be bteresting to see how you do in Division one

I only wish I was a player good enough to play at this level. Unfortunately not but I am a spectator and have a few friends who play for STM.
You didn't mention the 3 draws STM suffered from against opposition who sit at the bottom of the league (excluding Porth)? Funny that.
I have a look on here now and then but the only talking ever done on here about STM is when they lose. People have been quiet on here for a few weeks surprise surprise.
All of a sudden they lose a game unexpectedly and people come out from under their rocks trying to stir up trouble. It's laughable.
STM never dreamt of being in the position they're in at the moment as a non paying club. To put them up there as one of the favourites is really a credit to them. I'm sure they will accept the odd disaster of a result along the way.
But thank you all for keeping tabs and taking note.

That’s because they’re a good side my friend will always happen, but some on here will also be looking after incidents in car parks and stuff over the years - I’ve never seen anything like this myself tho no trouble at all
You talk about convenient - if they drew with some poor sides, did they therefore beat some good ones to be basically second? Caldicot, Garden Village etc etc. I seem to recall some big cup wins against higher opponents too?
It’s a ridiculous argument to be honest. If you go up the decision was right. If they don’t though!? Simple as that isn’t it really
Good luck though. Top side
Could your game be on Saturday as it’s 3G? I wouldn’t know if it’s a possibility or not so sorry if it’s stupid question ha

My issue here is certainly nothing to do with the previous manager departing. The only point I'm making is that all of a sudden people assume they're struggling as they lost to West End away.
In all honesty no one will ever know whether it was the right decision as no one will ever be able to find out if the ex manager would have been successful or not. It's impossible.
The football they played under the previous manager was different let's say, but they weren't getting beat every week so there's definitely a case of the sacking being harsh or premature at least.
STM have always beaten big sides most seasons so it's not something any manager have brought into the club.
I haven't heard anything yet on the game being on but I feel it will be unlikely if this weather continues. Even on their 4G surface.
