the major talking point this week in the world of local football has been the controversial sending off of 5 Bath City U19s players in a match against Newport for wearing the wrong coloured undershorts.
no surprise then that the referee in question was Darren Adie, who has consistently shown himself to be a rotten egg of the highest order.

I agree, he is supposed to be Gwents No.1 man in black. What a joke, a power tripping wanabee who should of checked that his "assistants" had carried out this inspection BEFORE kick off.Ended up a farce !!!!!!!
Trevor Kemp is still Gwents No.1 Referee
;D

Ive seen this happen quite frequently within the welsh league divisions/ reserve divisions and quite frankly it is obsurd!
This needs to be put to bed by a league and referee meeting asap

uwic were reduced to 10 men after 7 minutes against Pontyclun as an indirect consequnce of this rule being applied. the FAW were adamant in theeir interpretation, so we raised the matter with Fifa. They replid that it was permissible to wear underclothing of a different colour provided that it did not extend below sleeve or hemlines. unfortunately, the reply came too late to appeal the suspension of our player, but it seems that the FAW hasn't bothered to revise their instructions to referees.

Alun
Well done you for not bowing down to it!
Can I suggest that you share with us exactly what the reply from FIFA was?
Isn't it sad that we are talking about undergarment colours and referees being ever so strong in their application of this yet I have seen knee high tackles this season punished with merely a "come on son, calm down....."

From FIFA Refereeing Dept:
Under-shirts and under-shorts must not be of the same colour as the team shirts and shorts if they are not visible to normal sight.
I presume they mean 'not ncessarily of the same colour', otherwise they totally contradict the FAW interpretation instead of allowing tolerance.
I'm taking the e-mail to our cup-tie on Saturday as Mr Adie is in charge

if you decide to play shortless, do your crown jewels have to match your shirt colour

He had a good game - more relaxed and sympathetic without the scrutiny of WPL assessors. Haverfordwest scored when we had a man down injured for almost a minute, but I think it was our opponent's lack of sportsmanship in keeping the ball in play rather than the ref which cost us (their second goal came in stoppage time when we were chasing the equaliser). It was a game we could have won - but we can't blame the officials
