Just been to watch port talbot at caraeu ely last night. Jeeze have you seen the ground, div i welsh league, joke. The stand looks like its just been bombed by the raf and for the playing surface its a disgrace. Do they carry out any work in the summer , last night they were marking the pitch out as kick off approached and mark jones was very sorry he took the fixture in the first place. Spoke to few people up there and they defo pay there chosen players but once again they choose to pay players and there ground belongs over ely racecourse. Get a grip because grounds like yours will be thrown out in the next few seasons and not before time

How ironic should it be a port talbot fan comes on here to critisize grounds , where are thease clubs trying to improve getting the money from . This is the way the f.a.w does things they dont care about clubs outside the welsh prem everybodys trying but in this current climate its hard to improve , welsh football is going nowhere and thats a fact theres no money in it , the top teams in wales would struggle in the blue square prem , and as for your ground its hardly setting the world alight considering how long youve been in top flight for and it will be in welsh league div 1 next year where it belongs judging by the players youve lost and the mediocre ones that have come in . FACT

Thats very harsh on Billy from PT as I think all that he's trying to get across is that teams seem happy to throw wasted money at players yet dont concentrate on the fundematal basics such as a lick of paint a bit of polyfilla and sorting the playing surface out. I personally dont care where PT finish but at least tey have sustained at the level they are at and overcome adversity

Sorry but to say port Talbot's is not a very good ground is a joke! I can only assume you haven't been there for 4 or 5 years!

try Dinas Powys ground an utter disgrace. Its basically a dog walking cabbage patch (Dog Poo AFC) the stand absolutely shocking and what dug outs?. The ground would actually look alot better without the so called stand. Its one of the very few grounds where vandalism would actually improve the image

This is a good topic of conversation and one I feel strongly about. Simple facts are - FAW are imposing the standards on the feeder leagues - Fact Simply put, there is no money in the system (or if there is you have to be a brain surgeon with time on your hands to get it) so how on earth are teams expected to meet the criteria - Fact
I'm not talking about your WGI grants which if ever you read what you can apply for it makes you think is it worthwhile!! That is why at the WL AGM they use the example of requesting a grant for a PA system only!! I know this is strictly not true and a few clubs have benefited but there is a priority scheme in place for this pot.
With regards to facilities I DO want to see them improved and a couple of clubs mentioned in Caerau Ely and Dinas Powys are not the only ones who have issues. I do however agree strongly that teams should not be investing much needed funds in paying WL Mercenaries who P*ss off once the dollar runs dry or the team gets relegated. Although it takes time the model club in my view is Cwmbran Celtic who develop players through their system and are certainly reaping the benefits now with there setup boasting a WL Div one side and a Reserve team that has won the league in successive years along with there WL Youth. A few Crows fans who although have had better success in years gone by must be jealous of there close neighbours? I would be thats for sure. Sustainability is the key
So there is a balance and sometimes you have to pay a retainer unless you attract the talent naturally. Although clubs like Caerau Ely seem more engrossed in signing players up on Contracts (In my view if there is no money involved why would you sign a contract and if so is this money being shown as a payment to the Tax man? I don't think so ever!) rather than on a facility which has a bad rep.
What also about Caerleon - Changing rooms so small the Umpa Lumpa's off Charlie & the Chocolate Factory would moan about!!
I know there is a criteria to get into the WL but they should impose it when gaining promotions up the divisions for example to get into division one you must have floodlights, Club house...not some P*SS hole pub 2 miles away from the ground like Pontardawe (who also have a Sh*te setup!)
