After a long hard season across the divisions there are some great candidates for "Manager of the Year" I would have thought. Who are the main candidates? I am sure many clubs could make an argument for their own Manager, but try and think outside of that and give a shout out for THE Manager of the year in your opinion. I have 3 people to throw into the mixer. - The Management duo at Caldicot who defied the odds for a big part of the season and were right up there right to the end in Division 1. - John Lewis at Aberbargoed who won the Division Three title with many local lads in the team. - Mike Jones @ Caerau who guided a very very young team to promotion to Division one for the 1st time in their history. Mostly all of the Caerau team were produced by their own Youth System! Maybe once we have a few nominees we could run a poll on the most popular ones!!??!!??

I know he's my mate, but Gareth Morgan at Croesyceiliog should be mentioned for winning the Welsh Cup with his div 2 side.
Also when we're on the subject of getting promoted using only local players, Cwmbran Celtic say hello. I don't think Celtic used a single player this season who didn't come through their youth system in some shape or form.

I think the point regarding Croesi is that they did what they did without spending a single penny and beat a couple of real giants in doing so and they are a team that is in Division 2 and did it against the backdrop of being relegated the previous season.
If Blackpool won the FA Cup, beating the Champions in the final, and finished 6th in the Championship I am pretty sure Ian Holloway would get some credit - so in Welsh League terms that is a similar thing.
As for it that cup being "poxy" because there is no money in it, well as far as most of us are concerned we would happily emmulate what they did for no financial reward at all. Football is not about money - well, for most of us it isn't anyway!!
Anyway, far be it from me to big up another club in the county, but fair's fair! If it was my club who did that I wouldn't be too happy if someone devalued the achievement.
Lots of managers did well - and Cookie must have done well at Goytre and to say he is a candidate I would say but I don't get the need to devlue others to make the point.
I take it you are from Goytre?

cookie? do me a favour.
he managed to stumble over the finishing line with a goytre team full of aging stars. they had the winning worst points total in nearly 20 years.
it can't be difficult to take a team that comes in the top 2 of the league every season and get them to win it. the manager of the year award should go to someone who has truely achieved something.

OK yes croesy did well to win the cup !! i admit, i would not call Barry giants though would you may bee 10 years ago. and fan it don't matter how many points it takes to win the league they won it !!!!!! do you think fergie, or any manager gives a toss about points as long as they sit on top my friend whether they won by 20 points or goal difference they won it and won it 3 times in the past five years.
