There are talks a foot of the potential amalgamation of the senior and south wales amateur leagues. The good thing to come out of thst would be the end of play offs at the end of the season between the champions of both leagues to determine who gets promoted to the Welsh League which I feel is unfair. Our Club played in the Gwent County and along with the West Wales league the champions automatically get promoted if they meet the right criteria. Although it is nothing to do with me and am stating this as an observer, I think on the point of welsh league entry they are doing the right thing.

i believe this is correct as there is no candidate offered by the south wales amateur league. so senior league runaway leaders bridgend street will be promoted without the need for a playoff.

I think you will find that its the other way round, i heared both Kenfig Hill AFC and Ton and Gelli FC have both applied for promotion, and grounds have both been approved?

tricky one with T & Gelli as thay owm ground but current Welsh lge club Ton pentre own dressing rooms, rules at mo state 2 clubs cannot share same ground so watch this space but they have applied for promotion, indeed top 7 of Am Lge at mo have applied.

I have heard there will be no playoff, so will teams from both leagues be promoted?

I read in the Welsh Football Magazine that only two will come up, providing ground criteria is passed: one from Gwent and one from South Wales (play-off or not). As we know there is no applicant from West Wales.
I can't see the WL changing their rules to allow South Wales to supply two teams, even if does actually make quite good sense.
If this Senior League/Amateur League amalgamation goes ahead at least we'll have one less variable each season!
Interestingly, Welsh Football Magazine also mentioned the league would relegate an extra team from each division if no one goes up to replace Haverfordwest (assuming they actually do come down).
This I feel is harsh on teams as the goalposts are not just being moved mid-season but actually widened. Just run one team heavier for one season.

If Kenfig Hill or Ton & Gelli have eligible grounds and one of them finishes in the top 2 then yes, there'll be a play-off versus Bridgend Street.

Sorry to dissappoint you all but there will be no play off bridgend st ground has passed the full criteria that is required . Kenfig hills ground is woe fully short of the criteria that is needed for welsh league football. Bridgend st have invested £27, 000 to date on ground improvements and are upgrading there playing surface at a cost of £18, 000. Hope this has helped you.

Obviously Jo Jo has someone in the know at bridgend street and lets hope that a play off is avoided as surely a team without criteria shouldnt have the right to play off. How on earth can a club at south welsh senior grade afford to lash out close on 50k? thats serious cash at welsh prem level never mind 4 leagues down! Maybe they were the secret lotto winners from Swales last year.....

Congrats to Bridgend Street. And well done for organising that sort of funding and the building of the new ground.
Plenty of hard work has been done by the people involved no doubt.
