Your question is not that straight forward as it depends on many factors. Does the Club pay its players. What mode of transport do the team use. Where is the club geographly placed (Newcastle Emlyns transport costs for instance compared to a centrally based club). Also the more remote, official fees might be higher. What fees are paid for the use of the grounds. I know these vary. Cwmbran Town pay a fortune to play on the stadium where as a club like ours pay a modest amount to the council to play at our modest ground. What training facilities are used and how often. Sorry to go on but it does vary but I can tell you, and I think you all would agree its expensive and getting more so.

I cant speak for other Clubs but about 10k is realistic for our Club running two senior teams. (players dont get paid) We would love to spend more but getting money into a Club is very hard work and what we bring in we have to spend with very little profit.

i'd say you're looking at £20k as a playing budget alone, if you want to be competitive. that's in addition to the costs graham has mentioned. 50k then should be enough to win the league with most clubs

I agree with Graham, costs of around 10K will run 2 WL sides for a season.Paying players would be ontop of that figure.

Paul, I am the secretary of Aberbargoed Buds who currently play in the 2nd division. The lads are right, if you had a players budget the cost would rise significantly and possibly, can only go so far within the pyramid system on limited resources. What we have got though is local lads within the community who could earn a few quid playing else where but are loyal to their local club which makes us quite competative at the standard we are playing. The answer is to have a very good youth set up so as to compliment your senior squad year on year.
