The league called a meeting last Monday to discuss bringing in the 2009 ground criteria in 2013, the clubs were happy to vote on it on the evening but were told that 7 days notice had to be given to all the clubs to meet to vote on it even though they were all at this meeting. If that makes sense?

Yes unfortunately Carolyn we had be there . Had to go tell someone mind as the MCom thought they needed 36 as a 2/3rds majority, but we only have 50 member clubs now not 54 and that from a builder and you know what builders estimates are like LOL If they had announced it hadnt passed because of that well Alan Watkins would still be there talking

Thanks for the explanation. If memory serves, a lot of clubs will need a lot of grant aid to conform to the 2009 criteria. And one or two will need bigger pitches Seriously though, perhaps the MC should consult the clubs on what they think sensible criteria should be. And perhaps have one criteria for D1 and one for the other two divisions. Allow clubs to improve gradually. D1 criteria must have to be a pre-cursor to the WPL Domestic Licence so over time we'll have a division full of clubs who are theoretically in a position to apply for/obtain a DL if they are serios about promotion.

I believe in football grounds adhering to "sensible" criteria set down by the MC especially in the current climate where there is no money about but the main thrust of promotion must always be how good your team is on the pitch and not who got the best stand, dug outs and colour programme.

I agree with you Graham. I think we all agree in that the league should consist of the strongest clubs with acceptable facilities, but when the clubs in the higher divisions spend their budgets on players rather than their ground because they are being protected is this right? Us smaller clubs have had to spend our money to get our grounds in order either to enter the league being measured against the 2009 criteria, or maintaining our grounds to meet this criteria as we thought that is what we were being measured against.
I hope you have not changed your views on this matter because you are now in Division 2.

My views are still the same and would be whatever division we were in. We certainly dont pay players and all the hard earned money we make goes back into trying to improve our facilities. Our club over the last couple of years through our own money and grants have spent £1000,s on trying to archieve the ongoing criteria. All I am stating is there as to be a common sense approach for clubs who may not think they have the new criteria to come up to speed. Its only my view but promotion and relegation has to be archieved through playing football and how your team does over the season maybe with a mix of improving facilities at the same time.
