Just heard the news about Chepstow being deducted 3 points for fielding an illegal player which means that Pontypridd will be promoted..
Heard on the grapevine that the player in question only played about 10 minutes as a sub so not the smartest move from the management if he was ineligible and this has caused them not being promoted..
Apparently Chepstow can appeal though..
Any Pontypridd fans got any news from their side of things?

From what you have just said, it doesn't sound like the have any grounds to appeal.

According to my sources the appeal will be heard this coming Wednesday. I believe it will be hard to overturn a decision against Chep going up but my own personal thoughts are that this will be a shame if they don't go up as we would have had 2 local derby games with Undy being the other. Financially it will benefit our club more to see Chep win their appeal and would mean we face them midweek in the 2nd game of the season......failing that it will be away to Ponty. With all the other hassles around Barry & Llanelli and all the threats they are promising to see through if they are removed, these are definitely uncertain times for the WL Committee and its member teams! All I know is that some clubs are going to be unhappy # inevitable

while everyone at Chepstow must be devastated there are a few clubs who would happily be in Chepstow's position (3rd div welsh league).Tomorrow is d day for the 2 clubs so fingers crossed the FAW will allow both back in even though I can see reasons why they may not allow it.

Thanks to caldiboy and vogdog for your thoughts on this. As a neutral with no bias to either team or the situation, it just strikes me that if a team can "get away" with breaking the rules - allegedly - because the Welsh League committee are concerned about the other issues surrounding Barry and Llanelli, a) the league needs a new, strong committee and b) we might as well forget the rules and let clubs play ringers whenever it suits them. To use a well-used football cliche, at the end of the day, it's cheating! If that's the way the sport is going, it's no better than Lance Armstrong taking a cocktail of drugs to win the Tour de France, or Dwayne Chambers doing the same in order to win a race. I agree that the financial advantages would be useful for some clubs but if Ponty aren't promoted, is it possible they would miss out on lucrative local derby cash as well.

Yes, we would miss out on a bumper crowd for our game against Penrhiwceiber ;-)

Both clubs seem to be under the impression they won and have been promoted!
Before anyone asks, no, I am not joking!!

Ponty are under no such impression and are awaiting the official decision from the FAW Appeal hearing meeting which was last Friday which only concerned Chepstow and the Welsh league as the main parties.

I thought rule was you have 5 days to complain? So if Chepstow are told that this player is ok by welsh league to play they have just done what any team would?? Now comes end if season and what a surprise it's Pontypridd asking the question?? I can assure you if any other club in div 3 had brought this up the FAW wouldn't even get involved. Just an opinion

Does anyone know the charge that was brought in the first place. Someone I was talking to at a cricket match the other day said it was because Chepstow Town had contravened FAW rules on international transfers so maybe they've managed to get Messi or Ronaldo on the cheap!

Seriously though, does anyone know the name of the player involved in this - I've heard he is Polish or Hungarian.
