I believe today Thursday the 13/6 is the big day where a massive meeting is taking place regards the make up of next years league!
Bryntirion and Bridgend merging to now make one club. Barry reformed under a new name. The Welsh FA forcing the Welsh League into accepting the NEW Llanelli club too.
And we are heavy on teams for next season.
Add to this Cwmamman United promoted from West Wales Rhoose promoted from South Wales Liswerry promoted from Gwent
Treharris & Bettws relegated from the Welsh League
This leaves a space in Div. 1 for two teams, will they therefore promote 5 teams from both Div. 2 and 3 or relegate less teams from Div. 1 and 2?
All division should be made up of 16 teams only as per previous FAW directive from 3 seasons ago!
LET THE FUN BEGIN ;D

Let the madness commence !!!!!!!!
The FAW Council held their bimonthly meeting at Betws y Coed on Thursday, June 13th 2013.
On the agenda was the application of both Barry Town United AFC and AFC Llanelli for full membership to the FAW for the 2013-14 season.
The Council members considered a recommendation that both clubs should be admitted into the Welsh Football League.
The FAW Council voted against this recommendation.
Both Barry Town United AFC and AFC Llanelli have been instructed to apply for membership to their respective Area Associations.

If those two clubs were from North wales the council would have gone with the reccomendation although Barry had a much stronger case. Can you imagine Bangor City being turned down if they were in Barry's position. Member clubs of the FAW should ask to see who voted for and against. Its all part of the demise of South Wales football. For Barry it is a disgraceful decision and they need to know the reason why they were refused.

Well we never seen that coming, thought they would both be accepted in then then fun would start with the league set-ups around it.
Now we have the scenario again from a few seasons back where appeals will be lodged and discussions will rumble on, the AGM on the 29th will be fun and will the season now start on time?

Why could'nt the third division run with 18 clubs next season. Why did they go against the recommendation of their own officials. The answer is I am afraid easy to see. The team that finished in 15th place are now safe. I have watched and been involved in the Welsh League over the years but now no more.

Shame if you do that Tim, as you are letting them win.

Why should division 3 run with 18 teams next year - the impact would be that 5 teams would be relegated next year; 2 of which would be relegated because 2 BRAND NEW CLUBS were allowed to join the league. If the Welsh FA members were giving promises throughout the season that Barry would be fine then that should be the issue bothering people (that they were making promises to do the wrong thing), not that they actually ended up doing the right thing and making the only viable decision. Didn't Barry form a splinter/phoenix club years ago that had to end up joining with Cadaxton? How many variations of the club should there be?

I think you need to see the article by Mark Pitman of Port Talbot on the current situation.
I would also like to say at what stage will the Welsh League be no longer in the full pyramid system in view of the number of clubs who wish to progress to the top level.
The time may come when we only have 2 divisions like the Republic of Ireland in the pyramid system due to this.

Another and probably the last I shall speak is that all AFC Llanelli and Barry Town United are asking for is NOT to be treated as a special case but to be treated the same as Merthyr Town. 3 years ago they folded reformed and allowed by the FAW Council to remain in the English system. They were relegated 2 divisions but due to Taffs Wells ground not having the required number of seats were relegated a third. You would not say the same about Jenner or Stebo. AFC Llanelli would therefore start Div 2 and BTU Div 3. Although playing in different countries all 3 are regarded as Welsh therefore why the difference in which the clubs are treated.Merthyr Town were not told to join their local league which would be the Gloucester League Th
