Today Bridgend Street played Chepstow Town but the game was all about the referee, someone infamous for dishing out needless cards just because he can and no doubt likes to. Aside of numerous ridiculously bizarre bookings for both teams he also stopped the game twice to tell each team's substitutes to stop warming up with a ball 10 yards behind the dug outs!!! Throughout the game both sets of management and the two dug outs were unanimous that the referee entered the realms of lunacy. Both sets almost consoling each other. A penalty against us after one of their players trod and fell on the ball a yard outside the area. (by their admittance too). Our nearest baffled player held his arms out and said "you're joking" - yellow card. One of their players putting in a superb midfield tackle only to recieve a tenners worth for it. That was the theme. Another beauty was telling one of our players to remove the white tape from his socks.....we wear equal one inch thick black & white striped socks and a part of the white tape had encroached onto a black part of the sock!!! Honest. There wasn't a bad tackle in the game or any needle but one person was hell bent on being the centre of attention and creating havoc. Apologies to everyone who paid to watch this one man show. I've emailed the compliance department with our observations and have asked if his bookings and red cards per game stats are available. Today there was at least 10 players booked but IMO not one deserved. Around £100 in the FAW coffers from hard done by players who were victim to a pedantic egotist. One of the most frustrating games watched for many years and both clubs Saturday afternoons ruined.

I am sure that every club who has had this ref for their game will receive the same consistant behaviour as BS got yesterday. Regarding the tape on sock problem, we had our sub stopped from coming on the pitch as this ref asked him to lift his shorts up which revealed short lycras that were a good 5 inches up from the bottom of his shorts. He was ordered to take them off on the touchline which left his dangles flopping all over the pitch when he ran on. This was the game that a player had his leg shattered in 2 places with 25 minutes to go and resulted in our players in no way able to continue due to this accident. It took a stoppage of an hour before player was able to be moved by the medics. Many appeals to abandon the game were rudely rejected yet I noticed recently that another game was abandoned due to another accident. This ref has had so many complaints against him that I cant understand why the League dont remove him from the list before an onfield riot occurs. His initials are the beginning of a four letter word that could describe his performances.

A day on and we are still wondering how something like this can be let to happen. Whilst nobody at our club will profess to being angelic , yesterday was disgusting and both clubs treatment absolutely appalling. I couldn't referee to save my life but if I was pushed into it I'd do it with humanity, honesty and respect. Not referee the game looking for any reason to make a show and to get the cards out. One of our players received his first booking in over a year yesterday and was left so riled that he asked to be substituted because he said it was impossible to play the game properly. As I've already stated, this guy is making clubs and players lives a costly misery.

Agree wholeheartedly, the match was turned into a stop /start affair, and spoiled the game as a spectacle leaving supporters and players unhappy.

There's tendency in life to apply rules without understanding what they're for. Hence the 'jobsworth ' tag. Goes for traffic wardens, tax inspectors, health and safety zealots and some referees. So there becomes an equivalance between minor technical infringements and infringements against the spirit of the game and the laws that underpin it.
If the laws are to encourage attacking play, reward skill (defence and attacking), recognise intent, then the laws should be applied with this in mind and sanctions should reflect this. As it is at times, the wrong tape is the same as persistent tackling from behind. Grrrr.....

it gets better, I've now found out that we've been reported by this referee for not having a privacy lock on referee's door (100% there is one, and nothing has changed since his previous visits to our ground) also no hospitality and no refreshments. I wonder what other referee's will be thinking when they read this!!??!! He's right and everyone else is wrong, again.

a copy of the match confirmation sent to yesterday's official and opponents in the week prior to the game. And we didn't offer hospitality?
Hi Stuart & Sean I'm confirming this Saturday's Welsh League fixture to be played at The Willows (within the grounds of Willows High School, Tremorfa, Cardiff CF24 2YE. ) Please note that entry to the ground is via the gate at the end of Willows Avenue. Kick off is 2.30pm and we shall be wearing red & white stripes, black shorts and black & white socks. Hot meals will be served at our nearby club house post match so we hope that you can pop back and enjoy. We look forward to meeting you all.

The FAW have informed us that they don't keep stats on referees bookings per game etc (amazing considering they are on clubs like a ton of bricks!!) The lack of accountibility is dumbfounding. Then again the FAW-cum-WPL sometimes forget to tell referees to go to games.... Anyhow, the South Wales Senior League manage to keep referee stats for games played in their league and their website shows that this season so far this particilar referee has officiated 5 of their games. 19 yellows and 7 reds in just 5 games. This in addition to the other finniky pointless issues that no doubt surface at each game.

I feel for any teams that get this guy officating them! I can speak from personal experience approx. a month ago at an away fixture in the SWSL. Me and my brother run a team and have never seen anything so bizarre in over 30 years of being involved in football. i felt so strongly regarding his behaviour, that i'd actually written out a letter to the SWFA, but decided it would probably fall on deaf ears as there's a lack of referee's across the country. Our club had quite a decent discipline record until we met this guy, who decided to turn a game into a farce after 35 minutes, by sending 3 of our players off, 1 our GK who has never been booked in his 5 years of playing seniors. he said they were all for questioning his decisions (start was a disputed goal, overline) his Regimental attitude ruined a game with not one bad tackle, with players in such disbelief they wanted to come off the pitch. He then proceeded to send 2 of our officials off for asking why! Not only did he cost us 3 points, but £120 fines and 3 players banned! I thought this must have happened before! praying we don't receive him again! 3 other clubs contacted me after this game to say What a Knightmare he is!

Lads I think the time has come for action to remove this guy from all oficials lists. Clubs must now get together and put forward a request that they will not accept this official from officiating at their games. It is a pity that the Management committees of the leagues havnt taken the appropriate action themselves.
