Heard about the abandonment of this match in the 92nd min....what are your thoughts?
....not sure what the ruling is, but the result should stand in my eyes....no doubt the "rulers" at the welsh league will make a decision (but not untill the 11th March, general meeting!!?)
Its a crazy decision by the referee!!

Well I was there and it was far from being a dirty game that saw 4 red cards and numerous other yellow cards. Referee seemed young and a little naive and should stop watching Mark Clatternburg or any other Premier League ref's who want to be control freaks. Must have been a "Fast Tracker"!! That said the resulting action by the Ely player must be condemned as no matter how bad the official is doing without them we will not have games.

Well we had this ref earlier in the season and he had a very poor game. Trouble is they are fast tracking him and it's not doing him any good. When I heard about the abandonment I thought that it was a dirty game but both Ely and Caldicot say that it was nothing like that. My opinion is that the result should stand but the player involved in the incident that caused the abandonment should be made an example of and receive a long ban.

Just shows the immaturity of the ref who, when the incident happened, should have made an exagerated look at his watch which was at the end of injury time and blown his whistle for the end of the game. The player should receive the suspension that he deserves as no referee should have to put up with that.

www.welshpremier.com/news/WPL85812.inkThe above link highlights how the welsh fa hold this "referee" in high regard and I'm suggesting this could be his downfall...although this is good for the game (if they could actually referee with some common sense) it seems in the above article that they are happy that they were the fittest referees attending. Im not saying this is a bad thing, after all keeping up with play is a very good skill, but surely an important trait is decision making and that happens between your ears!! Just from looking at them and I don't want this to sound mean...but it looks like 1) they are young and never played the game and 2) they all look like the kids that were bullied at school and picked last onto teams! The game has gone mad!! Just found this....what a hero!! www.walesonline.co.uk/news/south-wales-news/cynon-valley/2012/08/16/young-ref-comes-to-the-rescue-at-olympic-match-91466-31621976/

Just curious...why does the ref in question have 'SS' at the end of his name.

He reads and hears his own press but the only thing he has on his side in terms of refereeing is youth. i was young once and was also a shit referee

I think he is a good referee. He did what they are all told to do and followed the rules. You can't do that to referees and not expect the match to be abandoned surely. If he was being assessed would he be marked down for not doing it?

I think the problem with the new refs is that although they know the laws of the game they do not possess the common sense that goes with the job. They are too young to appreciate these things and follow everything to the letter of the law and that's when things go wrong. Your average Welsh League player expects a little bit of leniency especially if the ref is a bit streetwise but to the new refs there are no grey areas. It's either black or white and nothing in between.

Well said dannyg....
I'm no spring chicken but youngsters (25 years and under) these days have zero common sense and put them in a position of authority it becomes more apparent!

Wasn't a new ref in our game. 3 weeks ago though was it Danny & we all know what he turned a blind eye to dont we!!
It's unfair to put all young referees into the same bracket in the same way it's unfair to say all older referees won't have as much mobility!
Shocked that this thread has turned into blaming the referee for this incident I must say!
