Hi all,
You may have seen the information on Twitter already - but thought I'd make you all aware.
Basically, I'm the co-founder of Y Clwb Pel-Droed, but I'm not starting a new venture alongside the website - a new magazine for Welsh domestic football called Welsh Soccerites.
Numerous media sources have become available over the last two years regarding Welsh domestic football providing news, interviews, features, live updates and match reports on all things domestic Welsh football - so now I have decided to venture out and to start a new magazine covering the game we all love.
The magazine - named after the sports reporter in a newspaper from 1910 in Wales called the Welsh Soccerite - will provide a more cultural outlook on the domestic game in Wales. Features and interviews with our players, managers and volunteers - all focusing on why the Welsh system is such a great system to play in.
In the magazine, which will be produced quarterly, there will be some modern designs to attempt to encourage the rest of the Welsh football fan base of how special our own domestic system is. Laced with photos of derelict grounds, picturesque grounds - old photos from old historic games, old infamous kits from Welsh football history - we are attempting to provide something a bit different to what's already been created. Almost like what Mundial do - but tailored specifically towards Welsh domestic football.
If any of you are interested in writing, illustrating, designing or photographing anything - get in touch and we'll get you involved!
We are hoping that we can provide something different to the Welsh football scene - I must also note that Dave Collins does an excellent job and his magazine has been going 25 years strong so we are going to make sure that this magazine strays away from any sense of overlapping that may coincide with Dave's work, as his magazine is something that should be immortalised in Welsh domestic football history!
So we aim to provide something a bit quirkier and different - a new addition to Welsh football.
We have a current idea of first edition's content - but are looking for sponsors to offset the initial costs if possible, or to increase page numbers or to reduce price to ensure as many people in Wales can see it because domestic football deserves as much coverage as possible. So if you know of any potential sponsors who may be interested - get in touch.
There will be more details in due course - in the meantime follow all and any updates over on Twitter: @welshsoccerites
Thanks
Nick
