I see that applications for next season's Welsh League have been released with 11 clubs still standing. Applications from three South Wales Alliance Premier Division clubs were rejected, as grounds weren't suitable - Caerphilly, Cefn Cribwr + Pencoed. But six Alliance Premier clubs remain in the mix, comprising Brecon Corries, Canton Liberal Club, Cardiff Draconians, Merthyr Saints, Sully Sports + Ynyshir Albion. There's five from the Gwent County League - Abercarn Utd, Abertillery Bluebirds, Cwmbran Town, Lliswerry + Ynysddu Welfare. Plenty of ex-Welsh League clubs there hoping to bounce back. But because no-one has applied this year from the West Wales FA (can't believe there isn't a progressive club west of Punt Talbet), this means just two will be promoted from the feeders with presumably just two dropping out of Welsh League Division Three.

There isn't anyone playing local football in west wales that has a ground and facilities that meet criteria so not much point in anyone applying. There isn't even support for a west wales league. All the best grounds haverfordwest, ammanford, cwmamman, garden village, west end, swansea university & ynysgerwen are already in the welsh league. Apologies if i've missed anyone

I suspect at least 4 clubs will drop out of D3 once the Tier 2 restructure takes place.

unclefester: Know what you're saying + it's obvious there isn't a club west of Punt Talbet in the feeder leagues with a ground that matches criteria otherwise they'd have applied. But what I'm saying is, surely there is a progressive West Wales FA club STRIVING TO MEET CRITERIA. Obviously not. Down the years Carmarthenshire + Pembrokeshire have become insular + the days when the Welsh League contained the likes of Pembroke Borough, Milford Utd + Monkton Swifts (+ more recently Newcastle Emlyn from Ceredigion) are gone forever. But clubs in the Swansea area not looking to join the Welsh League amazes me.

As I stated previously NO club in swansea has the facilities, criteria or money to develop their grounds. Most teams in the swansea league play on shared council pitches. Only possible exceptions could be previous welsh league members South Gower or Morriston Town but neither has anywhere to erect a stand

There’s also the issue of travel, almost every away game for a club down West is a trek. Newcastle Emlyn were in D3 only about 5 years ago, he’ll of a trek for them to get to Cardiff or Gwent every other week.

Travel might be a problem for some. But it wasn't a problem for Pembroke Borough for donkeys years in the Welsh League - and in those days roads of Pembrokeshire weren't what they are today.

Would be interested to know why Caerphilly, Cefn Cribwr & Pencoed's applications have been rejected, when Canton Liberal & Cardiff Draconians have very similar grounds to the other three..?

Pencoed developing a new ground in Hendre + basically just started out on the plan + were "testing the temperature" in applying while Cefn failed to meet the Dec 31 deadline. Neither, however, have any seated accomodation. With regard Caerphily.........sorry don't know.

On that alone, not sure why teams like Cardiff Dracs and Canton Libs are any further along than Pencoed or others, unless they have big plans to be done in the summer or moving grounds.

Caerphilly Athletic play in Morgan Jones Park in Caerphilly. No stand & ground not fenced in. Honestly don’t see how that venue can ever be WL. Parking very average too as it’s a public park that’s very well used by people with kids etc
