Hi you crazy lot, just a question do you think The Welsh League as we know it, will be better off being run by the FAW ?

Ok point taken but only a handful of welsh league clubs will be in that championship. Majority will still be in and administered by current welsh league set up

If all teams in WL1 and Mid Wales1, along with the teams finishing in promotion places in WL2 and Mid Wales2 meet TIER 2 criteria, how will the new FAW Championship South and Mid be selected next season. What are the promotion positions for WL2 and Mid Wales2 this season ?

The season after next, the current WL committee will take over the League 1 South divisions.

What are the promotion positions for WL2 and Mid Wales2 this season ? I don’t think anyone really knows. What we do know is that 52 clubs have applied for 32 places. Some of those may not make the criteria, I think 8 are from WL D2, they can’t all be promoted (I guess unless there aren’t enough clubs who make the criteria). I assume it will be 3 up/down between Divisions 1 and 2 as usual. If there are more than 32 suitably qualified clubs, it’s down to “Sporting Achievement” to decide. Goodness knows how the FAW will judge that. Maybe clubs finishing highest are favoured over others. Whatever happens, there will no doubt be some clubs feeling aggrieved that they didn’t make it in.

Spoke to an FAW councillor last week and he said although the plans are in place there's no actual mechanism in place yet to implement it. Every club league and referee are supposed to have training for new system but nothing yet which doesn't really come as a surprise. The FAW probably think a simple email will explain everything and not be seen or heard of if it goes pear shaped

Would I be correct in stating that clubs in WL1 do not know where they will need to finish to avoid being relegated (excluded) from new FAW championship (even with TIER2 criteria) and play next season in what is shown on pyramid as WL2 !
Clubs in WL2 do not know position they need to finish in to get promoted or what position they need to be in to avoid relegation.
Clubs in WL3 again no idea where they need to finish to avoid relegation out of WL.
The relegation matter will then knock-on down pyramid.

Image, for example, 2 clubs from Mid Wales are accepted to play in the Championship South. That means 2 extra clubs need to drop out of the current Division 1, so it could be 5 down from all 3 divisions. For all we know, the FAW could decide that some clubs in D2 have better facilities than some clubs in D1 and accept the D2 clubs instead. We just don’t know. In my head I can see 5 blazers in a hotel meeting room picking teams like they were picking players for a lunchtime football match at school.
