Whatever happened to the romance of going to a game on a wet and windy day dressed for the occasion with a flask of soup in tow ? Or am I among a small minority?
Best Regards Dai

Wales is not a typical small football nation like Cyprus, Malta, Latvia and Estonia etc. because it’s top 5 (and best supported) teams play in another national league. Add in Colwyn Bay and you probably have a weekly average of 25,000 Welsh football fans watching non-national league football. Dividing this support by the tier 1 and 2 clubs would make a huge difference. Teams in the north benefit from having no Swansea, Cardiff, Newport or Merthyr. Surely though the WPL should be expanded to 16 teams to create some fresh impetus and possibly cut out some of the meaningless north to south travel. The FAW are encouraging teams outside the league to develop home grown players to compete in the development league but these clubs,as far as I know, get no financial support. The WPL clubs receive c £20,000 from UEFA funding to run their academies so will they ever vote to have this diluted with the addition of 4 more clubs? To be fair to the FAW they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t but it is clear that the new tier 2 championship needs to be under their control as the current Welsh League management is not fit for purpose. For example, poor playing surfaces are ignored, there is no central ball deal, the list is endless. I watched a game last week where 4 different types of ball were used before half time. They have £20,000 between them, or each to run academies? That's not much if its between them all, to run a tidy one through a season would cost about 20k I should imagine.

scrap this league asap a go back to the old days where clubs had real ambitions to play in the English league, the welsh premier will never appeal to football fans while our biggest welsh teams are playing in the English league

It’s a FIFA ruling that no Premier League means no national team. No national team means no money at all for Grassroots (I know there’s not a lot of money anyway)

Think of the Scottish League without Rangers, Celtic and Aberdeen, It's a terrible situation, one that should have never been allowed to happen in the first place, leaving the big three clubs, plus another three to leave their country and play in another is probably the biggest mistake the FAW ever made. I cant believe Fifa and UEFA even allow a team from another Country to play in a competition from the EPL www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/17459332

There was no way Cardiff and Swansea etc. were going to come back to a part time Welsh Prem in 1992, it would have killed the clubs.

Isn’t it today (30/04) that clubs find out if they’ve achieved the Tier 2 Licence or not?
Sure I read that in the Welsh Football Magazine.
